Circle Stock Price Forecast as Short-Term Bond Yields Soar Ahead of Arc Launch

Circle stock remained near the psychological $100 level on Sept. 9 after rebounding sharply from its August lows.

CRCL traded around $96 during the session. The stock has recovered more than 60% from levels near $59 reached during August.

Three developments now sit behind the near-term investment case: elevated Treasury yields, USDC circulation and Arc’s Sept. 16 public-mainnet launch.

Circle Stock May Benefit From the Bond Market Woes

One key catalyst that may boost the Circle stock is the ongoing woes in the bond market that have pushed short- and long-term yields to the highest level in years. The ten-year rose to 4.8%, while the two-year jumped to 4.41%.

The rising bond yields are important because of how Circle Internet Group makes money. Its main product is the USD Coin (USDC), which is the second-biggest stablecoin in the world.

After users buy the token, the company usually invests these funds in the bond market, where it generates yields. This is the same way that banks make money, with the only difference being that Circle cannot invest in other assets like gold, Bitcoin, and the stock market. It cannot invest the funds in corporate bonds as part of the GENIUS Act, that took effect last year.

US bond yields are rising due to soaring US public debt, which surpassed the $40 trillion mark last month. It has now surpassed the important milestone of $40.1 trillion, and this surge is likely to continue in the foreseeable future.

At the same time, there are signs that the US economy is slowing, while inflation is at an elevated level. Data due on Friday is expected to show that headline consumer inflation remained above 3% in August this year. As a result, as the chart below shows, the odds that the Fed will hike interest rates have continued to rise.

Circle Internet To Benefit From USDC Comeback

CRCL stock will also benefit from the ongoing growth of USD Coin (USDC). Data shows that the total USDC supply has jumped to $74.35 billion from last month’s low of $71 billion.

The rising USDC market cap has coincided with the ongoing crypto market comeback that has pushed Bitcoin and most altcoins higher. Bitcoin has jumped to $79,300, while ETH has moved comfortably above the key level of $2,500. The market capitalization of all coins has jumped to $2.7 trillion. In most cases, a crypto comeback normally leads to more demand for stablecoins.

Arc Layer 1 Launch

Meanwhile, Circle Internet Group will make a major milestone of launching its layer-1 network next week. This is a crucial aspect because it envisions Arc as the best alternative to Ethereum, especially among companies building stablecoin and other real-world asset (RWA) tokenization solutions.

Arc has already raised over $200 million from investors and attracted some of the biggest developers in the crypto industry. Some of the most notable players building in the network include Aave, Aerodrome, Morpho, and Uniswap. Arc may generate substantial fees as we have seen with Robinhood Chain.

The daily chart shows that the Circle stock price has rebounded in the past few months, a move that has coincided with the ongoing crypto market rally. It has already jumped above the important resistance level of $84.35, its lowest level on April 8 this year.

It has also moved above the 50-day moving average and formed an ascending channel. Therefore, it is likely that the stock will continue to rise in the coming weeks, with the next key level to watch at $136, its highest point in March.
