Bitcoin price held near $85,000 on Oct. 4 after failing to sustain a move toward $87,000. Analysts identified $87,000 to $87,500 as a key resistance region following Bitcoin’s recovery from its mid-2026 lows.
On-chain data also showed large Bitcoin holders reducing their combined balances. Separately, a long-term chart presented a possible double-bottom structure, although its projected $114,000 target requires qualification.
Bitcoin Price Faces Resistance Near $87,000
Bitcoin price climbed toward $87,000 before reversing part of the move. Ali Charts identified $87,000 as the upper boundary of a channel that has rejected Bitcoin for more than two weeks. The analyst placed the lower boundary near $82,500 and identified that level as the next downside area if the rejection continues.

The chart shows Bitcoin price trading around $84,650 after the latest pullback. A move toward $82,500 would bring the price back toward the channel’s lower section. Ali Charts said renewed whale accumulation around that area would confirm a rebound toward $87,000.
BTC Crypto Whale Holdings Move Lower
Also, Bitcoin whale holdings have fallen by about 30,000 BTC over the past week. The decline represents roughly $2.52 billion based on the valuation in the analysis. BTC whale holdings chart shows a reduction from above 5.25 million BTC toward about 5.23 million BTC between September 28 and October 1.

Large-holder balances declined as Bitcoin price traded near the upper portion of its recent range. Ethereum whale holdings have moved in the opposite direction. Ethereum whale balance metric rose from roughly 3.87 billion to 3.90 billion over the same period.
XRP whale holdings remained close to 3.90 billion XRP, with the chart showing limited movement through the period.
BTC Double-bottom Pattern Targets ATH Zone
A separate Bitcoin price chart shows a large double-bottom formation across 2026. The pattern formed after BTC declined toward the $61,700 area in June and then recovered toward the $82,000 resistance region in September.
The neckline sits near the $83,000 area on the chart. Bitcoin has moved above that level and is now testing the breakout area. Bitcoin price prediction targets a move toward roughly $114,000 if the double-bottom structure confirms and continues higher.

A double-bottom forms when price records two comparable lows before recovering toward shared resistance. BTC crypto breakout above the neckline can establish a target based on the pattern’s height.
Bitcoin Price Weekly Close Remains a Key Level
Ted Pillows said Bitcoin price needs a weekly close above $87,500 to establish a stronger rally setup. The analyst also said failure to clear that level could leave Bitcoin exposed to a move below $80,000.
Another long-term chart shows Bitcoin above several moving-average levels after the mid-2026 decline. The price has moved above the 200-day moving average near $77,729 and the 50-day moving average near $81,310. Bitcoin price also trades above the bull market support band shown around $74,691.
Bitcoin price now faces resistance around $87,000, and $83,000 remains central to the double-bottom setup.
The current technical structure leaves several price levels in focus. A break and a sustained move above $87,500 would draw attention to higher resistance and the double-bottom target near $114,000. A rejection below $87,000 could send Bitcoin toward the $82,500 channel support.
