XRP Price Tests $2.62 Amid ETF Speculation & SEC Talks

Key Insights:

  • XRP nears $2.62 resistance amid ETF speculation and SEC regulatory discussions.
  • BlackRock may file for an XRP ETF, fueling institutional interest.
  • SEC’s potential XRP commodity classification could accelerate ETF approval prospects.

Ripple (XRP) price has gained attention as it nears a key resistance level. Regulatory developments and ETF speculation garnered this attention.

XRP climbed 5%, reclaiming the $2.30 support level. This surge followed reports that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) may classify the token as a commodity.

XRP Price Faces Sell Wall at $2.62

According to trader CW, XRP price has edged closer to a crucial resistance zone between $2.50 and $2.62.

The trader noted that if XRP can break through this level, it would face no major sell walls until $2.80. Moving ahead, this could open the door for further price expansion.

Meanwhile, analyst XForceGlobal suggested that XRP price remains on track for a short-term push toward $4. The analyst maintained a broader bullish outlook, stating that if momentum holds, all roads lead to a $7-$10 range.

SEC’s Commodity Classification Could Pave the Way for ETF Approval

The ongoing discussions about XRP’s regulatory status have become a central focus. Reports indicated that SEC officials are evaluating. They are discussing whether XRP should be subject to commodity regulations like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).

If confirmed, this shift could remove longstanding legal uncertainties, making an XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF) more feasible.

Market analysts believe such a ruling would be a key catalyst for institutional adoption. It could be similar to the spot Bitcoin ETFs released in January 2024.

Nate Geraci, co-founder of The ETF Institute, added to the speculation. They predicted that BlackRock would eventually file for Solana (SOL) and XRP ETFs. He argued that BlackRock will unlikely let competitors dominate the market for top non-stablecoin crypto assets.

XRP’s Legal Battle with the SEC Nears Resolution

Beyond the ETF debate, XRP’s market trajectory is closely tied to its ongoing legal fight with the SEC. Recent reports suggest that Ripple Labs is negotiating a settlement with the agency. This could clarify XRP’s regulatory standing.

The case saw a significant shift in August when a district court fined Ripple $125 Million. The court also restricted the company from selling XRP to institutional investors.

Since then, speculation about a final resolution has intensified. Some sources attribute delays to Ripple’s push for favorable terms.

Analysts expect a significant price surge if a settlement is reached and the SEC officially classifies XRP as a commodity. There is a historical precedent. During earlier rumors over ETF approvals, XRP price shot up from $0.90 to $3.10 in less than two months.

Institutional Demand and ETF Approval Timeline

With growing institutional interest, traders are eyeing a potential XRP ETF approval in late Q3 or early Q4 of 2025. Polymarket data suggested that the market currently assigns a 73% probability to such an outcome, indicating widespread anticipation.

The approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs in early 2024 led to over $5 Billion in inflows within months. This pushed BTC to new all-time highs. Analysts predict a similar effect for XRP. They estimate an ETF could drive XRP toward the $10-$20 range in a sustained bull cycle.

The next key developments include further court rulings in the SEC vs. Ripple case. Additionally, official statements from SEC officials on crypto-based ETFs are highly anticipated.

As institutional momentum builds, XRP price action will largely depend on the outcome of these regulatory discussions.
