Key Insights:
- Ethereum price could hover around $3,000 after forming a bullish base close to $2,550 in May.
- ETH outperformed BTC in Q2 with 40.13% gains, fueling bullish capital rotation.
- Analysts project a breakout to $5,000 if ETH price clears $2,800 resistance with volume.
Ethereum (ETH) drew renewed interest after holding above $2,550, with analysts forecasting a move toward $3,000. The recovery followed strong Q2 returns, with technical patterns suggesting a breakout could follow.
Analysts Set $3,000 as Ethereum’s Next Immediate Target
Ethereum price hovered above $2,500 during late May, and analysts believed a move above $2,700 could initiate a stronger rally. Michaël van de Poppe observed higher lows forming on ETH’s chart, reinforcing a bullish bias. ETH had rebounded from an April low of $2,100 and tested resistance near $2,700.

Van de Poppe noted that ETH price has set up a pattern that points to its continuation. If the current range breaks, it could drive Ethereum towards $3,000 at a quicker pace. Although the market between $2,700 and $2,850 is usually resistant to movement, Ethereum price staying above that area and consolidating at the upper band proves it is strong.
Ethereum Price Technical Patterns Support $5,000 Projection by Year-End
According to Crypto GEMS, a long-term chart indicated that the token could trade above $3,000. Analysts believe that Ethereum price is now past its prolonged accumulation phase, which began in early 2024. The breakdown box hints at the possibility of reaching $5,000 before 2026.

Consequently, Ethereum price has gone through a calm period similar to previous periods, though many are predicting big gains. ETH price moved past the previous level of consolidation, indicating that it could soon revisit resistance areas between $4,000 and $5,000.
Similarly to previous bull markets, the current trend includes taking back formerly lost areas and a series of small rallies. Should Ethereum price stay stable above $2,500 and rise above $3,000, it would likely move higher with greater speed.
Ethereum Outperforms BTC in Q2
Based on data from Ash Crypto, Ethereum outperformed Bitcoin in Q2. During the quarter, ETH returned 40.13%, while BTC returned 32.04%. There could be a shift of assets towards Ethereum, which some analysts think could result in increased market activity during Q3 and Q4.

In historical data, Ethereum tends to perform better when it gains against Bitcoin during the middle phase of the cycle. Ash Crypto pointed out that major ETF decisions and further developments on the network this year could encourage larger organizations to participate.
The data revealed that in Q3, Ethereum performs strongly when Q2 has positive returns. If this trend continues, the price could go above $3,000, adding strength to the possibility of a longer-term rally.
ETH Price Structure Shows Breakout Potential
Ethereum’s price structure showed conditions that favored a sustained breakout. Price action respected higher lows, and strong support appeared near $2,550. Michaël van de Poppe’s chart showed buyers consistently stepping in above this level, reinforcing bullish sentiment.
On-chain metrics reflected low liquidation risk, while derivatives markets stayed relatively calm. The lack of leverage volatility added stability to price movements, increasing the chances of a breakout if volume returned above $2,800.
Any breakout attempt needed to be backed by strong volume to prevent a pullback. Weak momentum could result in temporary rejection near $2,800, with ETH revisiting $2,500 before resuming its climb.
At the time of writing, Ethereum price traded at $2,671, rising 5% in 24 hours. Volume surged to $24 billion, while market capitalization reached $322 billion, reflecting renewed investor confidence and technical recovery.
