Ethereum ETFs Record 18 Straight Days of Inflows, Beating Bitcoin ETFs

Key Insights :

  • On Wednesday, net inflows into U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs totalled $240 Million.
  • Wednesday marks the 18th day of net inflows.
  • Ethereum aligns with bullish signals in the broader altcoin market.

Ethereum exchange-traded funds are drawing strong investor interest. Spot Ethereum ETFs in the U.S. recorded net inflows of $240 Million on Wednesday.

These inflows surpassed those of Bitcoin ETFs on the same day. The trend highlighted growing confidence in Ethereum’s market position.

According to ThijsTalks on X, the iShares Ethereum Trust of BlackRock (ETHA) was the chief driver of these inflows. This alone accounted for $163.6 Million.

Ethereum is becoming more critical to institutional buyers. They seek regulated and convenient access to the cryptocurrency market.

These inflows, however, signal preference shifts, with Ethereum ETFs leaning more so than Bitcoin ETFs. Spot ETFs offer institutions an easy way to invest in Ethereum.

They provide direct access to the asset without managing private keys. This eliminates the complexities of directly owning tokens. The ease of access, along with the growing Ethereum ecosystem, is driving demand.

Eighteen Consecutive Days of Net Inflows

Wednesday marked the 18th consecutive day of net inflows into Ethereum ETFs, a streak that began in mid-May. Over this period, these ETFs have attracted more than $837.5 Million in fresh capital.

This sustained inflow streak is remarkable in the volatile crypto market. It highlighted growing confidence in Ethereum as a long-term investment. If the current trend continues, total inflows into Ether ETFs could surpass $1 Billion in the near term.

Spot Ether ETFs launched in July 2024 and have seen $3.32 Billion in net inflows. Nearly a quarter of this total has come in the past 18 days. This surge highlighted growing institutional interest in Ethereum.

Ether ETFs are quickly becoming a mainstream investment choice. Crypto analysts suggest that accumulation is steady, but there’s room for further upside.

Ethereum Aligns with Bullish Signals in the Broader Altcoin Market

Ethereum ETFs’ inflows are part of a wider bullish trend in the altcoin sector. Since April, Ethereum has outperformed Bitcoin by nearly 50%, with the ETH/BTC ratio breaking out of a long consolidation phase.

This performance indicated a shift in investor capital toward Ethereum and other altcoins. Higher returns and technological innovation expectations drove it.

The growing utility of Ethereum’s network also supports this bullish outlook. Stablecoin transaction volumes on Ethereum have reached record highs. This was bolstered by fintech giants such as Visa, Mastercard, and Stripe integrating blockchain technology into their payment and remittance systems.

This increased adoption enhances Ethereum’s real-world relevance and underpins investor confidence. Moreover, Ethereum’s recent Pectra network upgrade has attracted institutional interest.

Although user activity has yet to fully reflect the upgrade’s impact, the event mirrors Bitcoin’s earlier institutional adoption phase. Analysts suggest this could begin a new growth cycle for Ethereum, driven by technological improvements and increased capital inflows.

Ethereum ETFs Outpace Bitcoin ETFs Amid Volatile Flows

While Ethereum ETFs have experienced steady inflows, Bitcoin ETFs have been subject to more volatile capital movements. On 29 May, the inflows into Bitcoin ETFs were halted amid a sharp outflow of $346.8 Million.

Subsequently, Bitcoin ETF flows have seen spurts of activity reflecting investor uncertainty and profit-taking while coming in and going out. At the same time, Ethereum ETFs have followed an upward trajectory of consistent inflows.

This discrepancy underscores the growing popularity of Ethereum as a favourite asset within the crypto ETF domain. An increasing institutional demand is mostly facilitating the current inflow streak.

A more positive attitude of the U.S. SEC to Ethereum ETFs also contributed to investors’ confidence. Spot Ethereum ETFs provide institutions with regulated and transparent access to Ethereum.

They offer a convenient way to invest without holding the tokens directly. This approach reduces custody-related risks.
