Toncoin price faced renewed selling pressure after breaking down from a multi-month triangle pattern on July 1. The token dropped below $2.85, which created a bearish sentiment, despite the institutional headlines offering brief relief.
Analysts noted a possible target of $1.90 should the breakdown be confirmed. In the meantime, traders were leaning long in derivatives, including retesting levels of support between $2.70-$2.75.
Toncoin Price Targets $1.90 as Triangle Breakout Fails
Toncoin price lost a key technical structure after it fell out of a descending triangle on the four-hour chart. Analyst Ali explained that the break represented a magnet price at $1.90, and the chart depicted clean Fibonacci extensions. The trend had contracted over some months, creating lower tops and horizontal supports just beyond the $2.75 mark.

When that support broke, the trend established a downside bias. Fibonacci projections aligned with the 1.414 extension at $1.90. This provided a potential short-term support to the traders in case buyers were not able to retest the triangle apex. TON price briefly rebounded to $2.83, but the reaction lacked strong volume, suggesting a cautious market trend.
Historically, collapses of such triangle forms can lead to prolonged losses, particularly when not recovered in a short time. Notably, the next sessions remain crucial. If TON price remains below the triangle base, bearish continuation could take hold into mid-July.
BlackRock’s $1.5B TON Bond Deal
Despite the technical weakness, institutional news surrounding TON injected brief bullish momentum into the market. George Fred reported that BlackRock was exploring a $1.5 billion bond issuance tied to Telegram’s TON network. The bond, which yields 9%, will be one of the earliest direct connections between traditional debt products and crypto-native protocols.
TON price jumped 6% on the announcement but failed to sustain its gains beyond $2.90. Still, analysts viewed the development as validation of the TON ecosystem’s growing appeal to major capital allocators. The possible entry of BlackRock has the potential to spur the development of the infrastructure within the network.
More importantly, the high-yield instrument may attract risk-tolerant debt investors into the crypto-linked financial layer. This action shifts the discussion beyond the price of tokens and into the maturity of ecosystems.
However, as TON price retraced, it revealed that institutional headlines alone may not override clear technical failures.
The bond deal remains speculative for now. It will depend on execution timelines, regulatory hurdles, and investor appetite as to whether it materializes. However, sentiment-wise, it highlighted the interest of Wall Street in Web3 infrastructure.
Toncoin price Engulfing Candle Forms at Demand Zone
Furthermore, technical traders turned to candlestick formations for signals as TON price revisited the $2.70–$2.75 support zone. According to Crypto Chiefs, an engulfing bullish candle formed near the base. This suggests short-term accumulation or profit-taking on shorts.

Should this zone sustain over the upcoming few sessions, it can bounce back down to $2.90. This baseline corresponds to the triangle base lost recently. A close above it would weaken the bearish thesis.
But, failure in the engulfing pattern to cause higher lows could activate downside objectives below $2.60. Traders are monitoring daily closes to confirm any bullish reversal of this demand block.
Derivatives Show 58% Long Bias Despite Breakdown
Coinglass data showed 58.78% of TONUSDT accounts remained long on July 2, while shorts made up 41.22%. The long/short ratio decreased a little bit to 1.43 in comparison to June. This implies that traders were betting on recovery even when there was weakness in the technical side.

The long bias growth occurred after the engulfing candle indicator and the BlackRock bond news. Analysts believe such combinations stimulated dip-buying strategies despite the bearish macro structure.
TON price may remain range-bound in the short term unless a breakout or breakdown resolves the current uncertainty. Provided that the long-heavy structure is still in progress and the price is unable to recover, a squeeze might occur below $2.70.
