Ripple OI Hits $800M As Week 33 Sparks 2017 Fractal Buzz

Key Insights:

  • XRP futures open interest surges to $800M, up 33% since June 22 lows.
  • Week 33 echoes the 2017 breakout pattern, fueling fractal excitement.
  • XRP EVM Sidechain TVL crosses $105M as RLUSD stablecoin grows rapidly.

Ripple (XRP) is gaining significant market attention as futures open interest spiked to a five-month high of $800 Million. At the same time, technical indicators point to a potential bullish fractal setup reminiscent of XRP’s 2017 breakout.

Week 33 has become a focus for traders, as the asset consolidates in a triangle pattern with striking historical similarities. Moreover, Ripple’s growing ecosystem and fresh sidechain developments draw institutional and retail interest.

XRP Futures Market of Ripple Heats Up as Open Interest Surges

XRP futures open interest hit $800 Million on July 7, 2025, marking its highest level since January. According to data from Coinglass, it later settled at 743 million, still 33% higher than the June 22 bottom.

Despite futures market excitement, the spot price of Ripple has remained relatively stable at around $2.34. Funding rates remain positive, reflecting a strong bias toward long positions across major platforms like Binance, Bybit, and OKX.

ETF speculation has further lifted sentiment, with ProShares’ XRP ETF now listed on the DTCC platform. This mirrors early Bitcoin ETF listings, which preceded SEC approvals. Though XRP’s ETF has not yet been approved, analysts believe a regulatory green light could arrive soon.

Week 33 Fractal Gains Traction as 32-Week Consolidation Ends

Ripple has completed a 32-week consolidation phase, the duration observed before its 2017 breakout. Crypto analyst Ripplesinwales highlighted that “Week 33 could be explosive.”

He noted the chart’s strong resemblance to historical triangle breakouts. Historical cycles suggest that breakouts occur between 75% and 95% of the triangle’s duration.

Based on this pattern, the projected move could begin between early July and mid-September, according to fractal analysis. Price targets in this setup range as high as $17.50, contingent on broader market conditions.

Meanwhile, XRP ranks as the most traded asset in South Korea. It logged over $132.59 Million in 24-hour volume on Upbit.

This concentration of trading in a single region may contribute to the token’s current price stability. However, broader participation could drive further upside should institutional momentum align.

XRPL Ecosystem Expands With EVM Sidechain and RLUSD Growth

The EVM Sidechain of Ripple surpassed $105 million in total value locked, per DefiLlama. This sidechain supports Ethereum-compatible development tools like Solidity and MetaMask.

This lets developers migrate or build on XRPL. Apps built on this chain use XRP as gas, benefiting from XRPL’s liquidity and efficiency.

Ripple CTO David Schwartz stated, “The XRPL EVM Sidechain introduces a flexible environment for developers… without changing the fundamentals that make the XRPL reliable.”

The sidechain handles 1,000 transactions per second with significantly lower fees than Ethereum. Additionally, Axelar, Squid, Band Protocol, and Grove have all backed the initiative with infrastructure support.

Simultaneously, Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin continues gaining ground. It has grown from $308 Million to $455 Million in market cap in under a month.

Over 85% of RLUSD is issued on Ethereum. However, Ripple appears poised to shift issuance toward XRPL using the EVM Sidechain.

Furthermore, Whale Alert covered the 214 million XRP transfer worth almost $500 Million. This also fueled the speculation regarding the actions of the large players.

Meanwhile, the protracted legal battle between Ripple and the SEC might end soon. Ripple has since abandoned its cross-appeal, and speculation about what the SEC will do next is rife.

However, a settlement may be imminent. In a recent call with lawmakers, CEO Garlinghouse stressed the importance of simple regulations that would lock in the U.S. as a world crypto powerhouse.
