Is Solana Really Breaking Out Despite 189,851 SOL Unstaking

Key Insights:

  • FTX/Alameda SOL stake withdrawal may increase market supply pressure.
  • Unstaking a large SOL amount could reduce staking rewards for holders.
  • Analysts predict a bullish trend for Solana despite short-term volatility.

A recent withdrawal of 189,851 SOL from the FTX/Alameda staking address, valued at approximately $30.94 million, has raised questions about its impact on the Solana (SOL) market.

Despite a general upward trend in SOL’s price, this large withdrawal could introduce notable market pressures and signal changes in staking dynamics. Here’s a breakdown of the potential consequences based on recent market activity and expert analysis.

Increased Market Supply and Sell Pressure

The withdrawal of such a significant amount of SOL has the potential to increase the circulating supply of the crypto. It could introduce sell pressure if FTX or Alameda decides to liquidate the assets.

With SOL currently priced at $164.23, representing a 3.66% price increase over the past 24 hours, the impact of additional supply could dampen the momentum.

The recent price increase has already sparked interest. Besides this, if a large portion of the withdrawn tokens is sold quickly, it could result in a temporary decline in Solana’s price.

In scenarios with low liquidity, large token movements can amplify price swings, making short-term volatility a real possibility. In this context, the withdrawal could exert downward pressure on Solana price as the market absorbs the increased supply.

Potential Consequences for Staking Rewards

The effect of the withdrawal extends beyond market pricing. Staking SOL helps secure the network while earning rewards. However, the large unstaking action has reduced the total amount of SOL being staked.

As a result, the staking rewards for remaining participants could decline since fewer tokens are contributing to the staking pool. This change could dissuade future staking participation if rewards become less attractive.

Furthermore, market sentiment could be influenced by the withdrawal. A move of this size from a major player like FTX or Alameda might be perceived as a lack of confidence in Solana’s future prospects. Such sentiment could further exacerbate any downward pressure on the SOL price, particularly in the short term.

Analysts Weigh in: Price Action and Future Predictions

Despite the potential for sell pressure, analysts remain generally bullish on Solana’s longer-term prospects. Diana Sanchez, a social media influencer and market analyst, has pointed to a bullish breakout for Solana.

After a period of consolidation, Sanchez believes the asset is poised for upward momentum, possibly targeting $180 in the near term. The formation of a symmetrical triangle pattern on Solana’s price chart is seen as a typically bullish sign. It indicates a potential breakout above key resistance levels.

Sanchez’s analysis also highlights the increasing on-chain activity and ecosystem growth around Solana. It signals heightened investor interest and network usage.

This positive trend could support the continuation of SOL’s price rally, as the fundamental strength of the Solana network underpins the bullish outlook.

Solana Road to $210

Meanwhile, analyst Heisenberg has provided an alternative perspective on Solana’s price action, analyzing the range-bound structure in the SOL/USDT chart. Heisenberg suggests that SOL’s price could continue to fluctuate between the Range High (RH) and Range Low (RL).

One of the opportunities the analyst is looking at is a possible manipulation wick at the range low near about $120. This wick would represent a false breakdown, after which the price would likely reverse, signaling strength at the support level.

He then goes on to predict that once this potential wick has cleared, the price of Solana may reset and rise towards the Range High. However, the top target of the range is a little above $210. Such a move would indicate renewed buying pressure and a test of higher resistance levels.

As seen, both analysts are displaying bullish intentions. Although the latest retracement has occurred, the direction for Solana price apparently depends on the development of these important technical factors and market conditions in general.
