Key Insights:
- The CBOE submitted the 19b-4 documents for the Canary Staked SEI crypto ETF to the U.S. SEC.
- SEI crypto flashed a buy signal after the superb sentiment that followed the staking ETF filling.
- SEI DEX volume surged to a new milestone of about $900 million over the past one month.
On August 19th, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) received a staking ETF filling from the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) for Sei Network (SEI). The filing followed a string of postponed decisions by the SEC for most of the altcoins ETFs. These body pushed their dates for clarification to October 2025.
The SEC has been making progress with regard to crypto ETFs, especially now that companies eye to include staking. On that note, most of the altcoins were awaiting approval from the SEC for the staking ETF. The Ethereum staking ETF could be the precedent for many more to make their way.
CBOE Files For SEI Crypto Staking ETF
The CBOE formally crammed for the Canary Staked SEI ETF to the SEC. If approved, it would expose the altcoin to one of the largest US exchanges where 10% of daily volume is traded. Also, an approval would increase the exposure of the altcoin to more traditional participants who are skeptical about cryptocurrencies.
CBOE pointed out that a minimum of 100,000 shares will be available when the commodity is first listed on the exchange. This ensured total compliance with Rule 10A-3 under the prescribed Acts for Commodity-Based Trust Shares.

The ETF filling elicited renewed interest in SEI crypto when the broader market faced selling pressure.
What’s Next After SEI Prices Flashed ‘Buy’ Signal?
As a result of the interest emerging from the ETF filling, the price action flashed a buy signal as per the TD Sequential indicator. The indicator has been timing market tops and bottoms with precision across multiple cryptocurrencies as noted by Ali Charts on X.
The 4-hour timeframe level signaled a potential market bottom. This zone previously sparked a 21% move to about $0.36 price level. If history were to repeat, traders could anticipate a similar move.
The institutional growth on SEI crypto was being driven by Monaco’s launch. This innovation improved the speeds at which the traditional markets were being traded. The feeling around the altcoin was FOMO, especially after the staking ETF filling.
SEI crypto also emerged among the top chains by capital inflow in the last 30 days alongside Avalanche (AVAX). SEI had a positive netflow of $23 Million, which was way lower than the previous month, which had $83 Million. However, this put SEI second among blockchains that gained the most traction.

Still, the altcoin was at risk of a drop below $0.30. The MACD and RSI indicators ascertained the underlying bear strength. However, SEI’s script was starting to change. SEI’s ability to stay above the $0.30 level hinged on the broader market recovery. This was especially from Bitcoin trading $113,000 from an ATH of $124,000.
SEI Crypto Closes In On $1B DEX Volume
Meanwhile, its onchain data also ripped big from the ETF filling hype. Its DEX volume over the last month, as of press time, per Artemis Analytics, was $896.7 million. The volume for the last 24 hours was $42 million, a rise of about 5%. The Perps volume accounted for only $2.47 million.

This spike in liquidity was harnessed by launch of Wall Street-Grade Trading Layer, Monaco. Here, one orderbook connected every spot DEX, perp DEX platform, prediction markets, in-game economies, and DEX Aggregators with SEI as the liquidity layer. This onchain trading boosted institutional and retail trading.
