In the latest Bitcoin news, the Coinbase Premium Gap hints at an upcoming rally for the leading cryptocurrency, BTC. This metric is approaching triple digits, signaling strong demand among U.S. investors.
At the same time, the Bitcoin open interest (OI) clinched a new milestone, an ongoing market uptrend. Analysts have set ambitious targets for the leading cryptocurrency, driven by the latest market trends.
Bitcoin News: Coinbase Premium Hits 91.68
CryptoQuant analyst Buraskkesmeci noted that the Coinbase Premium Gap registered a positive value of 91.68.
The Coinbase Premium Gap approaching the 100 psychological threshold suggests strong positive sentiments from U.S. investors.
Simply explained, the Coinbase Premium metric measures the percentage difference between the Bitcoin prices on Coinbase and Binance. A higher gap suggests that BTC is more expensive on Coinbase compared to Binance, which is usually interpreted as strong U.S. demand.
Conversely, lower gaps mean Bitcoin is cheaper on Coinbase, indicating U.S. selling pressure or weaker demand. This is typically an indicator of impending price volatility.

In his Bitcoin news update, he noted that the 91.68 Coinbase Premium Gap screams optimism. He believes it could help push BTC towards a new all-time high (ATH).
Note that the U.S. is the world’s biggest crypto market by institutional volume. The nation is home to top BTC corporate holders like BlackRock and MicroStrategy.
Thus, when Americans bid up prices, as seen in the recent example, it often spills over globally, pushing BTC higher. In the past, high premiums have preceded breakouts, as seen in June when BTC surpassed $106,000.
However, if the premium suddenly flips lower, it might signal a short-term pullback for the leading coin.
BTC Records New Open Interest Milestone
Nevertheless, Bitcoin has also shown strong performance in the derivatives market. CryptoQuant analyst Maartunn noted that the Bitcoin open interest has reached its highest level yet.
According to Maartunn, the BTC open interest has surged to $45.3 billion, up from about $32.6 billion just days ago.
In crypto futures, OI represents the total number of outstanding contracts that have not been closed or settled.

High OI indicates extreme leverage in the market, as small price movements can trigger liquidations, signalling commitments among investors.
The latest OI spike aligns with Bitcoin climbing above $121,000. It is likely driven by BTC exchange-traded fund (ETF) inflows and possible Federal Reserve rate cuts in October.
At press time, the Bitcoin news showed the coin traded at $121,020, up by 1.7% in the past 24 hours. Amid the positive performance, its trading volume increased overnight by 5.2% to more than $70 billion.
Where is BTC Price Heading?
Amid the ongoing BTC rally, analysts and even traders have forecasted a bold price for the top coin.
On the social media platform X, Strategy Chairman Michael Saylor recently posted a poll. The Strategy Chairman asked his followers to cast a yes or no vote on whether BTC could surpass $150,000 this year.

So far, 50,877 have voted in the poll. 76.1% yes, while the remaining 24.1% voted no. While Saylor has not yet explicitly answered his own poll, his track record suggests a bullish stance.
Strategy remains the largest corporate holder of BTC, with a total of 640,031 BTC, valued at approximately $77.4 billion. Saylor has repeatedly confirmed that the firm would continue to hold BTC in its balance sheet.
Meanwhile, other analysts like GalaxyBTC recently predicted that BTC could rally past $130,000, citing strong recurring patterns.
Overall, the pathway towards $150,000 for BTC this year appears feasible, particularly given the growing institutional interest.
