Ethereum price is replicating its 2020 setup, attracting renewed optimism from traders and analysts. Current charts indicate a similar two-month correction before possible upside continuation.
Analysts believe the pattern signals a strong expansion phase ahead. This could have a notable impact on the ETH price in the coming months.
Ethereum Price May Repeat 2020 Breakout
Analyst GalaxyBTC pointed out the similarities between Ethereum’s current trend and the recovery pattern of 2020. Back then, the Ethereum price recovered from $490 over the course of two months.
Then, it launched into a significant uptrend. The current setup features a correction from $4,900, with another “V-shaped” reversal forming on the weekly chart.

Ethereum price is currently consolidating around $3,800-$3,900. It is similar to its 2020 levels, which experienced a consolidation base before breaking out.
In the past, Ethereum stabilized before climbing past $600 and surging past $4,000. If history is repeating itself, the ETH price could approach $5,000 when buying strength returns.
Market cycles are often repetitive – investor sentiment aligns with familiar technical structures. The resemblance supports the view that Ethereum could be gearing up for another prolonged rally in the next few weeks.
$3,800 Support Zone Is Critical
However, technical analyst TedPillows stressed that the Ethereum price was recently rejected from upper resistance and rebounded towards $3,800. This is a crucial zone of liquidity where demand must be strengthened for an upward reversal to occur.

If the ETH price holds its position above $3,800, a move toward $4,075 and $4,236 could happen. These levels represent areas of previous rejection, which can also be zones of short-term resistance.
A confirmed breakout over $4,236 would likely result in another test of $4,700. However, if the $3,800 support level fails, the Ethereum price could return to the $3,400-$3,600 range.
The chart depicted potential points of accumulation where the traders may look for new entries. The upcoming sessions will determine whether Ethereum can form a higher low and regain its bullish momentum.
Bitcoin Breakout Could Trigger Ethereum Price Rally
Market strategist Michael van de Poppe attributed Ethereum’s potential rally to the $112,000 resistance of Bitcoin. Historically, altcoins tend to gain momentum when Bitcoin breaks past significant resistance levels.

Bitcoin is accumulating between $107,000 and $111,000, absorbing liquidity before it moves again. Van de Poppe believes a breakout above $112,000 could boost the momentum of altcoins. He expects the ETH price to lead in market dominance if that happens.
He said that if Bitcoin falls below $106,000, it may create an opportunity for accumulation in the short term.
Once Bitcoin regains momentum, the Ethereum price could surge to $4,900 and potentially new highs. The $112,000 barrier is the main pivot that could open the door to the next altcoin cycle.
ETH/BTC Chart Suggesting Major Shift
Meanwhile, analyst Crypto Catalysts said Ethereum’s structure fits an Elliott Wave 3 early structure. This can often signal intense phases of expansion. He forecasts a rapid rally that could lift the ETH price to $10,000 between late 2025 and early 2026.

The long-term chart indicated that the Ethereum price broke out of a multi-year accumulation range. It’s similar to what occurred in 2020-2021. Historically, every time a breakout occurred from such formations, it was accompanied by a significant bull market.
Similarly, CryptoELITES pointed out Ethereum’s test of a long-term downtrend line last touched in 2017 and 2021, respectively. Past breakouts from this pattern triggered periods of strong altcoin dominance.

If confirmed, the ETH price could surge towards a 0.10-0.15 BTC ratio, indicating a return of market leadership. Altcoins are entering an expansion phase, gaining momentum across the crypto market. This makes 2025–2026 a promising window for Ethereum to outperform Bitcoin potentially.
