Donald Trump’s election was the cherry on top of a delightful year for the crypto community. 2024 started on a positive note for Bitcoin (BTC), which is up over 120% year-to-date. Halving, coupled with the first BTC ETFs, gave the crypto market unhindered momentum. Also, throughout the year, there has been a palpable improvement in the regulatory and institutional perception towards crypto globally.
However, BTC wasn’t the only crypto that stole the show! Among altcoins, three cryptos came back on track — XRP, Dogecoin (DOGE), and Hedera Hashgraph (HBAR). Here’s how these cryptos did this year and why they could have an impressive 2025.
XRP Scores a 300% Spike as 2024 Ends
In just one month — November 2024 — XRP rose 300% amid massive whale activity and anticipation for Ripple’s stablecoin RLUSD. Moreover, at one point, XRP was rising by over 1.5% per day. It eventually marked a YTD all-time high at $2.9. Since that November boom, XRP ranks as the 4th largest crypto by market cap.

Ripple launched its stablecoin RLUSD during the post-election market euphoria. The new stablecoin is designed to facilitate efficient cross-border trade for enterprises.
However, the most important development for Ripple and XRP is the confirmed rejig of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Sitting Chief Gary Gensler will vacate the position of Chairman of the watchdog on January 20, 2025. It was under Gensler’s watch that the SEC filed the infamous suit against Ripple.
Judge Analisa Torres’s 2023 judgment that XRP could be labelled a security only when traded institutionally, was a milestone for Ripple. The case’s closure will give XRP a Filip. This 5+ years legal tussle might conclude in 2025 once the SEC sees a change in command.
DOGE Will Ride the D.O.G.E Wave in 2025!
Doge was just a meme-inspired cryptocurrency. A few weeks ago, President-elect Donald Trump introduced the Department of Government Efficiency, or D.O.G.E! Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will lead this non-government wing of Trump’s administration. This one-of-a-kind agency is mandated to dismantle government bureaucracy.
DOGE is being accepted in various places amid rapidly rising popularity. In fact, its price trajectory overshadowed Bitcoin in November.
A week ago, TraderTardigrade pointed out that DOGE had reproduced a pattern it made in 2020 and 2021. In those years, the meme coin price skyrocketed after making the pattern. Moreover, the analyst noted that DOGE could go as high as 8,150% (to around $30) from the current zone of $0.3.

HBAR is Looking at a Head Start in 2025
Rising decentralized finance (DeFi) activity, adoption, and technical analysis suggest HBAR might start 2025 on a positive note.
On October 21st, 2023, HBAR’s Total Valule Locked (TVL) stood at $30.14 Million; at press time, it stood at $175.84 Million. TVL represents the monetary value of the assets locked on the DeFi platform. Notably, in March this year, TVL crossed the $150 Million mark for the first time before dropping back to around $40 Million.
Messari’s Q3 report for Hedera showed a 24% spike in daily active addresses and an 11% rise in revenue (in USD). Moreover, revenue had hit an all-time high at around $27 Million, which was an 85% increase in QoQ. Also, Hedera is investing heavily in its smart contract infrastructure, the Messari report noted.

World of Charts, a pseudonymous analyst on X, noted that HBAR was poised for a 40-50% rally in the coming weeks. The HBAR price has increased by around 800% since November.

HBAR ETF filings are another reason why the crypto might do well in 2025. Once Gensler steps down, HBAR ETFs might get approved. Valor Funds and Canary Capital are two large firms that have filed for HBAR ETFs as of now. More firms might line up to cash in on its growth in the DeFi market.
