The ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike delayed future projects, and lower-than-expected performance from 2023 releases could be the contributing factors.

The Walt Disney Co. (DIS Stock) – Awaiting a Fairy for Pullback

Although Disney movies’ have not been a blockbuster lately, it still beats rival studios. Considering the span from January 1 to July 2, 2023, Disney Studios has a collection of $3.4 Billion worldwide. Interestingly, it is 3.9 times Paramount’s $871 Million, 3.8 times that of Warner Bros’ $898 Million, and 3.1 times of Sony Pictures with $1.1 Billion.

The Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) has 69% ownership in institutions. With its market cap declining to $157 Billion last week, it added to the 26% loss incurred by the shareholders. Having over 50% shares, these institutional investors have more say in the company’s matters. If the price continues to fall, they might sell their stake, creating more problems for retail investors.

Disney boss Bob Iger hinted at increasing the prices of all subscription modules to generate more revenue. Disney is also planning to include more ads and cut operating costs. With Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell due to speak next week at an event, investors are cautious about spending. During September and October 2023, DIS stock prices would trade below $80.00.

The $80.00 level should be a support, and the price might bounce off the mark. But the last former candle is a strong-bearing candle. Hence, the possibility of reversal is slim. The next candle should be strong enough to negate this. The descending 200EMA and 50EMA hints at a price drop but RSI at 33.96 suggests a jump soon.
