Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse recently disclosed that he had a direct conversation with former US President Donald Trump. He talked to him regarding the potential inclusion of XRP in a national digital asset reserve.

Bard Garlinghouse shared this during the XRP Community Day event held on X Spaces. There, the members of the XRP community later recounted key moments from his remarks.
Ripple CEO Discusses XRP in National Reserve Talks
Ripple CEO stated that Trump had a clear understanding of blockchain technology. He said he showed interest in positioning himself as a pro-crypto leader.
Garlinghouse emphasized diversifying digital asset holdings would benefit the U.S. and its blockchain industry. Addressing concerns over whether he prioritised XRP over Bitcoin, he clarified that he advocated for a multi-token approach instead.

According to the Ripple CEO, the crypto market allows multiple assets to thrive. He noted that a broad-based strategy would be advantageous for digital asset adoption.
He also commented on the issue of maximalism in a separate X post, stressing the importance of collaboration over competition. He argued that a unified industry would have a better chance of achieving shared goals than engaging in internal conflicts.
Garlinghouse Personally Holds XRP, BTC, and ETH
Meanwhile, he highlighted that he holds XRP, Bitcoin, and Ethereum, among other assets. This way, he underscored the need for an inclusive approach.
He further suggested that the government might create a digital asset reserve. That should reflect the diversity of the industry rather than focus on a single cryptocurrency.
The Ripple CEO previously stated that the outcome of the 2024 elections directly influenced Ripple’s expansion plans. He revealed that 75% of the company’s new job openings would be in the United States. This reflected expectations of improved regulatory conditions.
Legal Developments and Regulatory Speculations
On the same day, Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty commented on potential regulatory changes under a new US SEC leadership. He suggested that if Paul Atkins had been the SEC chair, he might have changed the agency’s current stance on crypto firms.
Alderoty suggested that regulatory cases focusing on registration issues rather than fraudulent activities could be reconsidered under a new administration. He noted that Ripple remains involved in legal proceedings with the SEC.
Both parties filed appeals following a 2024 court ruling on liability. He acknowledged the slow pace of regulatory proceedings but expressed optimism that a leadership shift might bring changes.
He pointed out that regulatory enforcement through litigation has been a contentious issue. He further speculated that a new SEC approach could lead to the voluntary withdrawal of cases against blockchain firms.
Alderoty maintained that regulation by enforcement was not an ideal path. He expected that the incoming SEC leadership would recognize that stance.
Anticipated Policy Changes
Alderoty also highlighted executive actions taken under the Trump administration. That also includes a task force established to review digital asset regulations.
He suggested that these measures signaled a more constructive approach to the cryptocurrency industry. He further noted that Ripple anticipated favorable regulatory policies, leading the company to adjust its hiring strategy accordingly.
