Will the SEC Drop Its Appeal and Send XRP Price to $10?

Key Insights:

  • XRP price gains momentum as legal uncertainties loom.
  • Ripple vs. SEC case could shape the future of XRP demand.
  • Analysts predict a possible $10 target if regulatory clarity emerges.

XRP price is back in the spotlight as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) prepares for a closed-door meeting on Feb. 20. Investors are waiting for signs that the regulator might drop its appeal in the ongoing lawsuit against Ripple, a decision that could send XRP soaring.

XRP Price Faces Legal Crossroads as SEC Meeting Approaches

According to the Sunshine Act Notice, the meeting will cover litigation claims, administrative matters, and enforcement actions. While the Ripple case isn’t explicitly mentioned, the broad agenda suggests it could be on the table. Given the lawsuit’s impact on XRP’s market performance, traders are bracing for potential surprises.

Legal experts believe a shift in regulatory approach is underway following a leadership shakeup at the SEC. Acting Chair Mark Uyeda has positioned Commissioner Hester Peirce as the head of the agency’s Crypto Task Force, potentially paving the way for resolutions to non-fraud-related crypto cases, including Ripple’s.

Can XRP Price Rally on Legal Clarity and ETF Speculation?

Ripple’s (XRP) performance has been volatile, driven by shifting sentiment around the lawsuit. On Feb. 17, XRP dipped 1.20% to $2.72, wiping out earlier gains. Still, over the past week, XRP jumped 14%, far exceeding the 1.21% gain in the broader crypto market.

Much of XRP’s recent strength comes from speculation that the SEC may abandon its appeal, allowing Ripple to operate without looming legal threats. If that happens, it could trigger institutional adoption, a factor that many believe has held XRP price back for years.

Another major catalyst is the growing anticipation of a U.S.-based XRP spot exchange-traded fund (ETF). The SEC has acknowledged the 19b-4 applications from firms like Grayscale and 21Shares, suggesting a possible shift in stance toward XRP-related financial products. An approved ETF could inject fresh liquidity into the market, pushing prices higher.

Analysts See a Path to $10—Will XRP Deliver?

Analysts are increasingly bullish on XRP price, with some calling for a double-digit target if regulatory uncertainty clears.

Crypto expert Edward Farina believes XRP could hit $10, arguing that once the lawsuit is over, institutional investors will flood in.

Similarly, Arthur Azizov, CEO of B2BinPay, predicts XRP could reach $5-$7 in early 2025. He points to Ripple’s growing partnerships and New York regulators’ recent approval of its stablecoin RLUSD as major catalysts. If demand for Ripple’s payment technology increases, so will interest in XRP.

SEC Faces New Legal Trouble Over Former Director’s Role

The SEC vs. Ripple case isn’t the only legal battle making waves. On Feb. 5, 2025, Empower Oversight filed a lawsuit against the SEC, accusing it of withholding key documents about former SEC Director William Hinman.

The case revives long-standing allegations of regulatory bias, particularly around Hinman’s Ethereum-related statements, which some believe unfairly influenced the SEC’s crypto policies. If this lawsuit leads to deeper scrutiny of the SEC’s decision-making, it could indirectly impact the Ripple case, putting more pressure on the regulator to resolve the matter swiftly.

XRP price could surge if the SEC drops its appeal, fueling institutional interest. However, prolonged legal battles may limit its upside.
