Dogecoin Price Outlook: Whales Boost Holdings By 111% In A Week

Key Highlights:

  • Big players loaded up on DOGE this week, suggesting a potential price breakout ahead.
  • Dogecoin (DOGE) price broke above key resistance and is holding at the $0.17 level, with RSI and MACD indicators remaining bullish.
  • Despite whale activity, on-chain data shows bears are still circling, putting pressure on DOGE’s next move.

Dogecoin price is down 1.2% in the last 24 hours. The token traded at $0.1792 on a 7.1% spike in trading volume, signaling a rise in market activity.

Meanwhile, whales have been stacking DOGE, with a massive 111% increase in their holdings over the past week. Could Dogecoin price be about to skyrocket?

Whales Accumulate DOGE as Dogecoin Price Consolidates

According to data from IntoTheBlock, DOGE whales increased their holdings by 111% in the last 7 days. Whales often buy before big price rallies, which could mean Doge price is about to go on a run.

The accumulation follows the launch of Libdogecoin v0.1.4 on April 12, 2025. This update introduces features like secure enclave integration, performance improvements, and YubiKey support.

Investors might be gearing up for a possible Dogecoin price surge. The latest upgrades improve blockchain interaction, making development more seamless.

Historically, April has been a solid month for DOGE. In 2021, it spiked 546%; in 2018, it jumped 84.9%. With whales loading up like this, some analysts like Alan are hyping up the possibility of DOGE reclaiming higher levels soon.

Alan posted on April 27 that DOGE could be gearing up to “drastically outperforrm Bitcoin” since the OBV mirrors 2021.

On April 29, analyst Peter DiCarlo noted that smart money had already acquired DOGE. He suggested that institutions might now be preparing to buy.

He presented a chart indicating potential institutional buying of DOGE. This activity could push its market cap to approximately $34 Billion before retail investors enter.

Buy DOGE: May Dogecoin Price Prediction Reveals

Dogecoin price chart signals bullish momentum as it recently broke past a short-term range. The meme coin is now retesting this level, which could determine its next move.

DOGE experienced a similar breakout before, but it was a fake-out. This resulted in widespread liquidations across the crypto market.

The price trend is above the 50-day simple moving average, signaling that the asset is bullish in the short term. The 200-day SMA is still bearish and forms a resistance up ahead at $0.2625

Dogecoin price sports a successful breakout and retest. However, analysts wonder whether it will finish with a continuation or a break back into the range.

If DOGE struggles to break out and the market shifts bearish, its price could be pressured. Analysts closely watch the $0.128 support level as a potential testing point.

On the bullish side, the whale accumulation and the Libdogecoin update give DOGE some serious street credibility. Tradingview indicators support a bullish narrative for Dogecoin.

The relative strength index (RSI) currently sits at 57.92, indicating moderate strength. Meanwhile, the MACD suggests a bullish trend, though momentum appears to be fading.

Onchain Metrics Tell A Different Story

Data from the Coinglass liquidation map shows a neutral-to-bearish sentiment. There is a slight difference between the total long and short liquidation leverages. Shorts slightly outweigh longs on both the daily and weekly charts.

This imbalance shows there is a tussle between bulls and bears for supremacy. Bears may have the upper hand, but time will tell.

Coinalyze data reveals that interest in DOGE futures has increased by 1.33%. This follows a 37% surge over the past four days, indicating heightened market activity.

This pause signals uncertainty in the market. If Dogecoin price rebounds from the $0.17 level, it could climb to $0.25 or beyond. April has historically been a bullish month for the memecoin, adding to its potential upside.

But here’s the bearish flip: if the broader market doesn’t deliver the goods, DOGE might struggle to hold momentum. Low trading volume and a lack of fresh catalysts could cause it to dip to $0.15 or even $0.13.

Dogecoin price is at a crossroads, and we are waiting to see if it takes off or stays grounded. The market’s unpredictability is keeping traders on their toes, making it challenging to call the next move.

If momentum picks up, it could rally—but if uncertainty lingers, it may hover in consolidation a little longer.
