Chainlink Hits Security Milestone, Nears 8-Month Address High

Chainlink recently unveiled a strategic reserve that entered its third week. This happened just as the L1 chain became the first interoperability chain to become ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certified.

Meanwhile, Ali pointed out that LINK had just clocked around 10,000 active addresses, an eight-month high on X. Chainlink price traded at around $24.81, down 5.81% intraday, and up over 11% over the week.

Over the month, the crypto was up over 25%. Here’s all that was relevant for LINK in the past 24 hours, along with a brief price outlook.

Chainlink’s Security Milestone

Chainlink announced it has achieved ISO 27001 certification. It also received SOC 2 Type 1 attestation for its security and data practices. This makes it the first Oracle platform to reach both milestones. These are the industry’s gold standard of security certifications, with few organizations boasting compliance.

Deloitte & Touche LLP examined Chainlink’s security standards. These certifications apply to key products like CCIP and price Feeds. They also cover Proof of Reserve and NAVLink, ensuring robust data protection across the platform.

Chainlink is the most widely used data oracle standard in Decentralized Finance (DeFi). It accounts for around 68% of the market share in total value secured or TVS, which is around $90 Billion.

Aave, Ether(dot)fi, and GMX are some of the leading DeFi protocols that Chainlink powers.

The Oracle platform also released a detailed vision statement on its blog. Per the statement, Chainlink is poised to facilitate the inevitable integration of traditional financial systems with on-chain systems.

Chainlink’s vision statement reads: “Chainlink is the only all-in-one oracle platform that supports the data, interoperability, compliance, privacy, orchestration, and legacy system integration needs of advanced blockchain applications.”

3rd Reserve Inflow Rolls in as Active Addresses Spike

Chainlink’s strategic reserve of LINK tokens, funded every week, entered its third week. The reserve holds 150,778 LINK or $3.7 Million in reserve value at an average cost of $21.34 per LINK.

Zach Rhynes noted on X: “41,105 $LINK (~$1M) was acquired today. ~90% came from $USDC swapped into $LINK via Uniswap and ~10% from user fees already paid in $LINK”.

According to Chainlink’s August 7 release, the strategic reserve is “designed to support the long-term growth and sustainability of the Chainlink Network by accumulating LINK tokens using offchain revenue from large enterprises that are adopting the Chainlink standard and from onchain service usage.”

Chainlink’s reserve is backed by its new Payment Abstraction feature. This innovation lets enterprises pay for services using any preferred payment method.

It adds flexibility and broadens accessibility to Chainlink’s ecosystem. The funds are then converted into LINK via decentralized exchanges and Chainlink services.

LINK Price Outlook: Institutional Momentum vs. Macro Uncertainty

Meanwhile, the number of active addresses holding LINK almost reached 10,000, an eight-month high, analyst Ali noted on X.

One analyst, Nebraskagooner, pointed out that $25 was acting as resistance on the monthly time frame. Chainlink was trading at $24.81 at the time of writing, just below this level.

Price movement was insignificant in the past 24 hours, given the cautious outlook before the Fed’s Jackson Hole event.

Market observers are optimistic about LINK’s potential, projecting targets of $50, $70, and even $100. These bullish estimates reflect strong confidence in Chainlink’s growth trajectory for the remainder of the year.

The Fed Chair’s comments at Jackson Hole will likely temporarily trigger strong movements. If Chair Powell downplays inflationary pressures, markets may interpret it as a sign of easing conditions.

This could lead to rising expectations for interest rate cuts. Subsequently, Chainlink is likely to show positive or consolidation moves. On the other hand, if the chair suggests that inflation is heating up faster, rate cut expectations will drop further. This means LINK will most likely react negatively.

Since the economic event is a discussion forum, the immediate market reactions will likely be temporary. Moreover, the expectations from the event have already been priced, as some observers have noted.

The recent institutional partnerships of Chainlink and security achievements are key drivers of LINK’s price momentum. These factors are expected to influence short-term spikes and long-term growth more than macroeconomic events.

Undoubtedly, an ISO 27001 certification and a SOC 2 type 1 attestation will spur further institutional adoption of Chainlink’s services. Increased adoption would reflect in LINK price performance throughout the year.
