Ripple Labs has joined forces with Bahrain Fintech Bay to promote the use of its stablecoin, RLUSD, and grow blockchain adoption in Bahrain. The partnership, announced in 2025, aims to boost the country’s fintech sector and create more options for digital payments and innovation.
Ripple Labs Enters Bahrain’s Fintech Space
According to the statement, Ripple Labs has entered Bahrain through a new partnership with Bahrain Fintech Bay. The goal is to support the country’s fintech industry and encourage the use of blockchain and digital assets.
This step also marks Ripple’s effort to make its stablecoin, RLUSD, part of Bahrain’s financial system. Reece Merrick, Ripple’s Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, said Bahrain has been a forward-thinking country in the blockchain space.
He noted that Bahrain was among the first to regulate crypto assets and that Ripple is ready to work with the Kingdom to grow a strong digital asset market.
Both organizations will create pilot projects and sample studies to test blockchain solutions for payments and tokenization. These trials are expected to show how blockchain can make transactions faster and easier for banks and businesses.
Per the update, the partnership also aims to give local institutions more tools to adopt digital finance systems.
Ripple Labs has built a name for itself by offering secure and compliant digital asset services. It helps financial institutions store, move, and exchange assets safely.
It is important to add that through this new partnership, Ripple hopes to add value to Bahrain’s growing fintech space while deepening its footprint in the Middle East.
RLUSD to Drive Digital Payments in Bahrain
At the centre of the partnership is RLUSD, Ripple’s stablecoin. The token is designed to hold a stable value and make payments smooth and reliable. As of writing, the token was trading at $0.9997.

Ripple plans to work with banks and financial firms in Bahrain to include RLUSD in their payment systems. The use of RLUSD could help cut down on the time and cost of cross-border transactions. It could also improve liquidity and provide more stability for businesses that deal with digital assets.
The international blockchain payments firm believes that the stablecoin can make financial transactions more efficient while keeping them secure.
Bahrain has been one of the few countries in the region with clear rules for digital assets. This has made it attractive to fintech companies looking for a supportive environment to test new ideas.
Suzy Al Zeerah, Chief Operating Officer of Bahrain Fintech Bay, said the partnership brings together Ripple’s global reach and Bahrain’s growing local talent. She added that both sides aim to create new opportunities for innovation, skill development, and digital finance projects in the region.
Ripple Expands Its Global Network
It is worth mentioning that Ripple Labs has been active in the blockchain and payments space for more than ten years. The company holds over 60 licenses and registrations in different markets around the world.
In March 2025, Ripple received approval from the Dubai Financial Services Authority, making it the first blockchain-based payments firm to get this license. This license added to Ripple’s record of building safe and regulated systems for banks and governments.
Its work continues to focus on three main areas, which include cross-border payments, stablecoins, and tokenization.
It is worth noting that Ripple Labs is also participating in strategic events such as the Fintech Forward 2025 in Bahrain. This is a notable event where industry experts meet to discuss the future of financial technology.
Market participants believe that such gatherings help connect regulators, banks, and fintech companies exploring new payment solutions.
Through its partnership with Bahrain Fintech Bay, Ripple aims to help shape Bahrain’s future in digital finance. More importantly, the project supports the country’s wider plan to become a regional leader in blockchain and fintech innovation.
