Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley dropped a bombshell of Bitcoin news regarding BTC liquidity. Horsley said there is not enough Bitcoin for everyone.
Additionally, Arthur Hayes noted that the 4-year Bitcoin cycle is dead. In the current market cycle, BTC has experienced a mild correction after recently hitting a new all-time high (ATH).
Bitcoin News: Bitwise CEO Raises Alarm About BTC Supply Shock
“There’s not going to be enough Bitcoin for everyone. Remarkable,” Horsley stated in an X post.
His comments are a direct response to a post celebrating André Dragosch, Bitwise’s European Head of Research.
Dragosch, known for his detailed market analyses and charts, recently shared an update highlighting the rising institutional BTC accumulation in 2025.
In his recent Bitcoin news update, Dragosch noted that institutional demand for BTC has continued to surpass supply.

Institutional Bitcoin investors have amassed more BTC this year than they did in 2024. These institutional players include treasury companies, global BTC exchange-traded products (ETPs), and spot ETFs.
According to the Bitwise chart, as of October 8, global BTC ETPs and publicly traded companies had collectively acquired 944,330 BTC. This outpaces the total 913,006 BTC bought throughout all of 2024.
Notably, firms like MicroStrategy and Metaplanet continue stacking BTC as a treasury asset.
In contrast, only 127,622 BTC have been mined this year, as against the 217,771 created in 2024.
The imbalance between institutional accumulation and newly mined BTC created a potential imbalance, which could lead to a “supply crunch.” This scenario plays out where available BTC on markets shrinks.
Therefore, Hougan warns that if demand continues to accelerate, there will not be sufficient Bitcoin to satisfy all participants.
As a result, latecomers might face sky-high prices or illiquidity. However, this scarcity drives value for the leading coin.
Is the BTC 4-Year Cycle Over?
Amidst the potential Bitcoin news centered on liquidity crunch discussions, market analyst and BTC investor Lark Davis commented on a recent essay by Arthur Hayes.
Hayes, a former BitMEX CEO and a prominent cryptocurrency commentator, is known for his macro-driven takes on BTC and the markets.
In the new essay, Hayes challenged the conventional wisdom about Bitcoin’s price cycle tied to its four-year halving.
Historically, halvings have preceded bull runs, as reduced supply met steady or growing demand, driving prices up.
However, Hayes said that the 4-year cycle is dead and a new bear market is not coming soon. He argued that the BTC halving event is not the primary driver of Bitcoin’s price surges and crashes.
Hayes claims that the price of BTC is increasingly driven by macroeconomic factors, such as interest rates, rather than its internal supply mechanics.
He further highlighted current monetary trends that signal a new wave of liquidity. Hayes emphasized that the U.S. Federal Reserve has begun cutting interest rates, while President Donald Trump is pushing for stimulus.
Additionally, Japan and China are also cutting rates, which could flood markets with dollars.
Unpacking the Current Bitcoin Correction
In a related Bitcoin news update, crypto analyst Jamie Coutts shed light on the current BTC price correction.
Within the past 24 hours, the BTC price has decreased by 0.05% to $121,517. However, the trading volume surged 27.6% within the same period.
Notably, Jamie Coutts attributed the BTC price pullback to macro headwinds, specifically a rebound in the U.S. dollar.
The analyst claimed the dollar’s rebound is tightening global liquidity. Typically, a stronger USD makes crypto assets more expensive for non-U.S. buyers, draining liquidity from global markets.
He added that DXY is retesting 100–101, a key resistance level. Breaking above this resistance could signal sustained strength, but failure might resume the downtrend.
