The Ethereum price climbed back above $4,100 after surging nearly 8% from its 24-hour lows of $3,800 to reach $4,190 during the recovery trading.
The rally coincided with Ethereum’s Coinbase Premium Gap spiking to 6.0 on October 10. The metric measures price spread between Coinbase and Binance, with positive readings indicating stronger U.S. buying pressure.
Coinbase Premium Spike Signals Institutional Dip-Buying
Ethereum’s Coinbase Premium Gap surged to 6.0 on October 10, during a period of widespread cryptocurrency market selling, according to an analysis by CryptoOnchain posted on CryptoQuant.
The reading is the highest level recorded for the index throughout 2025, providing insight into the different behaviors of U.S.-based institutional investors and global market participants.
The Coinbase Premium measures the price spread between Coinbase, which represents primarily U.S. and institutional flows, and Binance.

Positive readings indicate Coinbase prices trading at a premium to Binance and suggest stronger buying pressure from institutional participants. The 6.0 spike during October 10’s market crash represents extreme institutional accumulation.
CryptoOnchain noted that “typically, during periods of fear and broad-based selling, this indicator is expected to turn negative (a discount).” The spike to +6.0 instead “signifies that while the global market was selling, an overwhelmingly aggressive wave of buying was taking place on the Coinbase exchange.”
The analyst characterized the phenomenon as “a classic case of institutional ‘buying the dip’ on a massive scale.” Large-scale investors viewed the market downturn “not as a crisis, but as a prime opportunity to accumulate ETH at lower prices.”
CryptoOnchain emphasized that the reading “suggests that a robust support floor is being established by ‘smart money.'” The analysis concluded that traders should view this as a critical signal, as it indicates that future price dips are likely to be met with significant institutional demand.
V-Shaped Recovery Reclaims Critical $4,060 Support
Ethereum’s price action exhibits V-shaped recovery characteristics following the crash to its $3,800 lows. Analyst Ted noted that “ETH has reclaimed the $4,060 support level,” adding that “right now, Ethereum is having a V-shaped recovery, which is a good sign.”
Ted identified $4,250 as the next critical level for bulls to reclaim and stated, “The next level to reclaim is $4,250, and then bulls will be in control.”

The $4,250 resistance level is a key technical zone that has capped previous rally attempts. Breaking above this level would confirm bullish momentum and open path toward higher targets.
The 8% surge from $3,800 to $4,190 occurred within 24 hours. The sharp recovery validates institutional accumulation signals from the Coinbase Premium metric. Market structure indicates that buyers are aggressively defending the $3,800-$4,000 zone while pushing the price back toward previous consolidation ranges.
Ethereum Price Technical Patterns Target $5,950-$7,000+ Extensions
Analyst Lark Davis identified major multi-year technical patterns suggesting upside potential. Davis noted that “ETH broke out of a multi-year symmetrical triangle that started back in 2021” and “rejected perfectly at the old macro swing high.”
Davis observed Ethereum is “now coiling inside a bullish pennant, and also testing the upper triangle line which was once resistance, now potential support.”

The pennant formation within a larger triangle breakout creates nested bullish structures. Testing former resistance as support validates the triangle breakout and sets stage for continuation.
The analyst projected that if this consolidation resolves upward, the Fib 1.618 extension from the prior ATH to the bear market lows points to $7K+.
The Fibonacci extension methodology applies measured moves from previous cycle ranges to project targets for the current cycle. The $7,000+ target is a 1.618 extension of prior cycle’s range.
Analyst CW provided a more near-term technical target, stating the next target for $ETH is 5.95k. The $5,950 target represents intermediate resistance before a potential continuation toward Davis’s $7,000+ projection.
