Dogecoin price gained attention in early May 2026 after the token broke above a previous high and confirmed a bull pennant breakout. The move occurred on the 4-hour chart as traders tracked renewed momentum above the $0.115 region. Analyst Trader Tardigrade said the breakout followed a successful retest, while Binance trader positioning showed stronger long exposure. The setup mattered because DOGE now needs to hold the breakout area to confirm continuation toward higher resistance levels.
Dogecoin Price Breaks Above Previous High
Dogecoin price moved above a recent high on the 4-hour timeframe, showing a fresh higher-high structure. According to Trader Tardigrade, the move marked a short-term shift from earlier weakness into stronger bullish momentum. DOGE had previously traded within a weaker structure marked by lower highs and lower lows.
That pattern started to change after buyers defended the $0.085 to $0.09 support zone. The rebound from that area gave DOGE a base for recovery, allowing price to push into the $0.115 to $0.116 range. This shift showed that buyers were no longer only defending lows but also reclaiming higher levels.
The next resistance area sits near $0.12 to $0.125, based on the recent structure. A move into that zone would confirm that the breakout has extended beyond the immediate range. However, DOGE must remain above the breakout and retest area to protect the current setup.
A breakdown below the retest zone would weaken the short-term structure and expose price to the $0.10 region. For now, the higher high shows improving momentum, but confirmation still depends on sustained support above the breakout level.
DOGE Bull Pennant Breakout Strengthens the Setup
Trader Tardigrade also highlighted a bull pennant on the Dogecoin daily chart. The structure formed after DOGE price broke out of its earlier downtrend and moved into a short consolidation phase. This kind of pattern often appears after a strong move, then pauses before continuation.

The chart showed the top memecoin price breaking above the pennant’s upper resistance line. After that, the price returned to test the old resistance as support. This retest held, strengthening the bullish setup and confirming that buyers remained active.
The current candles show continuation after that retest. This gives the structure a cleaner look than a simple breakout without confirmation. In technical terms, a breakout, retest, and continuation often form a stronger setup than a direct spike higher.
The measured move from a pennant often tracks the height of the prior rally. That places near-term resistance around $0.12 to $0.125 first. If volume continues to support the move, DOGE price could later target the $0.14 area.
Ichimoku Signals Show Trend-Following Strength
Trader Tardigrade’s 4-hour Ichimoku update also points to a stronger bullish trend. He noted that Dogecoin price is consistently following both the Tenkan-sen and Kijun-sen higher. At the same time, DOGE is trading above the Kumo cloud.

This alignment shows that momentum is not only strong but also orderly. When Ichimoku price is above the cloud, it tends to indicate bullish trend conditions. If the price also respects the Tenkan-sen and Kijun-sen, it indicates that buyers are taking advantage of dips and extending the trend.
The chart also shows earlier setups from a Kumo retest and a Kumo breakout with a Kijun-sen bullish cross. These moves produced gains of 26% and 23%, according to the chart. That history adds context to the current trend-following structure.
Still, the same indicators can turn quickly if price loses momentum. DOGE price must remain above the cloud and key momentum lines to keep the bullish trend intact. A decline below those levels would create a weaker current setup.
Binance Traders Add to the Bullish Bias
Meanwhile, the current move is also supported by derivative positioning. According to data from CW, Binance top traders are now making more DOGE long trades. The account-based long/short ratio has recovered above 2.20 after falling near 1.84 on May 4, showing more top traders are again positioned for upside. The position-based ratio is also holding near 2.70, meaning larger exposure remains tilted toward long trades.

This fits the current Dogecoin price setup. DOGE has already pushed to a higher high, broken from a bull pennant, and stayed aligned with its 4-hour Ichimoku trend. If buyers keep defending the retest zone, the rising long bias could support another attempt toward $0.12 to $0.125.
Still, the setup is not risk-free. Heavy long positioning can make pullbacks sharper if price slips below support. For now, Binance top traders are leaning bullish, but DOGE must hold the breakout zone to keep that momentum intact.
