Bitcoin News: Strategy Plans to Resume BTC Buying After Recent Sales

Strategy plans to resume Bitcoin purchases later in 2026 after recent sales reduced its holdings to 840,447 BTC. CEO Phong Le said the company still expects to grow its Bitcoin reserve as it strengthens its cash position. The company has sold 3,328 BTC across its two most recent reporting periods. Meanwhile, Bitcoin trades below key resistance as traders watch support near $63,300 and a possible recovery toward $67,000.

Bitcoin News: Strategy Eyes Return to BTC Accumulation

Strategy CEO Phong Le said the company expects to increase its Bitcoin holdings again before the end of 2026. The plan follows several weeks of sales that reduced the company’s long-held Bitcoin reserve.

Le linked future purchases to a recovery in Strategy’s Stretch preferred stock, known by the ticker STRC. He said the company could issue more STRC shares once the security moves closer to $100.

Strategy has not announced a date for its next Bitcoin purchase. Le described the move as a later-year plan tied to capital conditions rather than an immediate transaction.

Strategy designed STRC with a variable dividend rate that management can adjust each month. The company kept the annualized rate at 12% for August while STRC traded below its stated amount.

Management has also repurchased STRC shares when the security trades below its target range. Strategy wants the preferred stock to trade near $99 to $100 before issuing more shares for capital.

Recent Bitcoin Sales Support STRC Repurchases

Strategy sold 1,690 BTC between August 3 and August 9 for about $108.6 million. The company received an average price of $64,262 per Bitcoin during the sale.

Strategy used the proceeds to repurchase 1,152,020 STRC shares at an average price of $94.29. After the transaction, its Bitcoin holdings fell from 842,138 BTC to 840,447 BTC.

The company also sold 1,638 BTC during the previous reporting period for about $104.73 million. Strategy used part of those proceeds for preferred-stock dividends and directed the rest toward STRC repurchases.

Across both periods, Strategy sold 3,328 BTC for roughly $213.3 million while its public reserve fell from 847,363 BTC on June 22 to the current 840,447 BTC.

Strategy Builds Dollar Reserve to $4.65 Billion

Strategy has also increased its US dollar reserve while reducing part of its Bitcoin position. The company raised cash through common-share sales under its at-the-market programs.

An August 10 filing showed that Strategy sold 6,585,329 MSTR shares and raised about $653.1 million. Management placed $650 million into its designated dollar reserve and added the rest to unrestricted cash.

That contribution lifted the reserve from $4 billion to $4.65 billion as of August 9. Strategy uses the reserve to support preferred dividends, interest payments, and other corporate obligations.

Le said the company now places more focus on holding cash alongside Bitcoin. During the second-quarter earnings call, he said management learned the value of maintaining dollar liquidity on the balance sheet.

Can Bitcoin Reclaim $67K?

Bitcoin trades under short-term resistance after slipping below the $64,100 area. Traders now watch $64,500 as the first recovery level and $63,300 as nearby support.

A rejection near $64,500 could keep pressure on Bitcoin and send the price toward the lower support zone. Buyers could attempt a rebound if the market holds around $63,300. On the daily chart, Bitcoin price still needs a clear break above $67,000 to strengthen its recovery.

A sustained move above $67,000 could shift attention toward the 200-day moving average near $70,010. Bitcoin also faces the 200-day exponential moving average around $72,191.
