Digital Assets Gain $882M In Inflows As Bitcoin, Ethereum Lead

Key Insights:

  • Digital asset inflows reached $882M, marking four straight weeks.
  • U.S.-listed Bitcoin ETFs hit a record $62.9B in net inflows.
  • Sui surpassed Solana in YTD inflows with substantial weekly gains.

Digital asset investment products continued their upward trend last week. Global inflows reached $882 Million, according to data from CoinShares.

This marks the fourth consecutive week of capital entering the sector, reflecting strong demand. Year-to-date (YTD) net inflows total $6.72 Billion, with Bitcoin leading the market momentum.

The momentum coincides with rising crypto market prices and expanding interest in exchange-traded products, particularly in the United States.

Institutional investors continue to allocate capital into digital asset-backed instruments, despite varying trends among individual providers and regions.

Economic & Policy Drivers Fuel Bitcoin Investment Growth

Underlying the consistent investment growth are multiple economic and policy-related drivers. CoinShares’ analysis points to a global expansion in M2 money supply, increasing liquidity in financial markets.

Stagflation in the U.S. has led to stagnant economic growth and ongoing inflation risks. As a result, some investors are shifting toward alternative assets. Several U.S. states have introduced legislation recognizing Bitcoin as a potential reserve asset.

This policy shift could encourage broader adoption and long-term integration into financial systems. These developments have combined to influence the inflow levels and the positive price action in recent weeks.

Bitcoin Leads Inflows as ETF Holdings Reach New Peak

Bitcoin remained the focal point of last week’s investment activity, securing $867 Million in inflows. This single-asset performance brought its YTD inflows to $6.65 billion, maintaining its lead among all cryptocurrencies.

U.S.-listed Bitcoin ETFs have reached a significant milestone. Since their launch in January 2024, they have accumulated $62.9 Billion in net inflows.

This new high exceeds the previous record of $61.6 Billion in February. It also highlighted ongoing interest in institutional-grade crypto investment products.

Meanwhile, other products presented mixed outcomes. Ethereum remains the second-largest crypto asset but saw modest inflows last week. Weekly investments reached only $1.5 Million, bringing the year-to-date total to $553 Million.

Sui outperformed, attracting $11.7 Million in new inflows. Its year-to-date total rose to $84 Million, surpassing Solana’s $76 Million. Not to mention, Solana had $3.4 Million in outflows last week.

Altcoins are Mixed Generators of Returns

Crypto flows between other altcoins were mixed, with XRP having a $1.4 Million inflow and closing at $258 Million YTD. Cardano and Litecoin rounded up smaller increases, bringing in $0.8 Million and $0.2 Million, respectively.

Multi-asset products attracted $0.6 million in inflows last week. However, they remain in a year-to-date deficit of $135 Million. This indicated investors favor direct assets over bundled ones.

Short bitcoin products, which are typically employed to hedge tail risk, attracted $1.6 million of inflows this week. Despite this, their YTD outflows remain at $22 Million.

Chainlink experienced no movement last week, yet its cumulative YTD losses total $124 Million. In addition, the “Other” asset category saw slight inflows of $0.2 Million. However, it continues to post the largest YTD outflows at $692 Million.

Geographically, the United States dominated regional inflows, accounting for $840 Million. Germany followed with $44.5 Million, while Australia contributed $10.2 Million.

Sweden led all regions in outflows, recording $12 Million. Hong Kong followed with $8 Million, while Canada saw $4.3 Million in withdrawals.

Macroeconomic changes and shifting policies shape investor behavior. Capital allocation across digital assets remains driven by performance trends.
