US, UK Form Taskforce To Advance US Crypto & Global Markets Ties

The US and UK have launched a joint task force to coordinate digital asset regulation. This partnership aims to strengthen capital markets and streamline cross-border funding.

The initiative reflects growing momentum behind US crypto policy and global adoption. Regulators are accelerating efforts to create a unified framework for digital assets.

Transatlantic Taskforce Set to Shape Future of US Crypto Market & Capital Markets

The United States and the United Kingdom have formed a joint task force focused on digital assets and capital markets.

This move strengthens US crypto collaboration with the UK to streamline regulation and boost innovation. The task force is the Transatlantic Taskforce for Markets of the Future.

The US Treasury announced a new partnership with the UK. It followed a meeting between Secretary Scott Bessent and Chancellor Rachel Reeves. The leaders discussed financial innovation and market collaboration. Their talks led to the creation of a joint Transatlantic Taskforce.

The task force seeks to bolster the relationship between the US and UK regarding financial market regulation. It will report to the UK-US Financial Regulatory Working Group on recommendations that will enable collaboration in the crypto and capital markets.

The press release stated:

The task force is expected to focus on options for collaboration and long-term innovation in the crypto market. It will also look at improving links between the US and UK capital markets to enable further cross-border capital raising.

Meanwhile, the task force will also include representatives from regulators focused on capital markets and digital assets. It has 180 days to report to the Working Group on its findings and plans to seek opinions of industry experts.

Regulatory Synergy: UK & US Crypto Market Policies Signal a Global Shift

Interestingly, the recent collaboration between the two countries comes amidst their respective pro-crypto efforts. The UK regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), recently proposed exempting crypto companies from “integrity” rules.

The rules require financial service firms to act with integrity, care, skill, and diligence in their customers’ best interest. However, the FCA suggests it could pull back on these rules to enable crypto companies to stay competitive.

The proposal is still up for public consultation, but it highlights how the country is becoming more pro-crypto. For instance, the FCA recently released data showing 69% in the time taken to approve crypto registrations since 2023.

Time taken to process applications also dropped from 511 days in 2022 to 158 days in 2025. The regulatory turnaround partly influences the UK’s shift toward pro-crypto policies.

This growing alignment reflects the momentum behind US crypto leadership in shaping global standards. With financial regulators in the US implementing policies and guidance to enable the industry, other countries have taken notice.

In an example of such pro-crypto moves in the US, the SEC recently released listing rules for crypto ETFs. The new listing rules could open the floodgates to altcoin ETFs in the US.

Industry Experts Welcome this Move

Experts view the US-UK partnership as a boost for global crypto regulation. It highlights growing support for US crypto innovation and clearer digital asset policies.

SteelWave Digital founder Mitchell DiRaimondo described it as a shift from the last cycle when builders and regulators were at war.

He noted that discussions now focus on creating the right architecture for crypto, which is good news. He says it is a sign of capital scaling into the market.

Ripple UK CEO Cassie Craddock also said the collaboration can create a template for international cooperation for the crypto industry. She stated that Ripple, a US-headquartered company, can leverage its presence in both countries to drive innovation.

She said:

Meanwhile, Coinbase released a statement saying that it supports the partnership. It particularly called on the countries to work on tokenization, stablecoin, and uniform regulations.
