Leading crypto Exchange Kraken has filed confidentially for an initial public offering with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on November 18, 2025.
The company has not yet determined the number of shares or the price range, as it seeks to expand its operations and attract additional investors.
Kraken Moves Toward Public Offering
According to the official announcement, Kraken Exchange submitted a draft registration statement on Form S-1 with the SEC on November 18, 2025.
The filing relates to its planned initial public offering of common stock. Details about the number of shares and the price range have not been disclosed.
It is worth noting that the IPO will occur once the SEC completes its review and market conditions allow.

As detailed, the exchange emphasized that the announcement is not an offer to sell securities.
Additionally, any sale will be subject to the rules of the Securities Act of 1933. Kraken has been expanding its operations globally and recently acquired Small Exchange for $100 million.
This acquisition is meant to support a U.S. derivatives trading platform. Additionally, the company reported around $40.5 billion in trading volume in October, showing steady growth in the cryptocurrency market.
Investment Boosts Kraken’s Valuation
In a separate development, Kraken raised $800 million in two funding tranches, which valued the company at $20 billion.
Institutional investors led the first tranche, including Jane Street, DRW Venture Capital, HSG, Oppenheimer Alternative Investment Management, and Tribe Capital. Kraken co-CEO Arjun Sethi’s family office also contributed.
A second $200 million investment came from Citadel Securities. Citadel plans to work with Kraken on liquidity, risk management, and market operations.
Market watchers believe that this funding could help Kraken strengthen its platform as it prepares for a public listing.
IPO Could Influence U.S. Crypto Market
The confidential filing marks a significant step for Kraken as it moves closer to a public listing.
The IPO could bring increased transparency and attract interest from larger investors.
Kraken’s acquisitions and funding show its focus on expanding services and supporting higher trading volumes.
Once the US SEC completes its review and market conditions are favorable, the company could finalize its IPO in weeks.
This step could affect the broader U.S. cryptocurrency market by providing more options for trading and investment.
More importantly, Kraken has continued to prepare for growth while maintaining its position in digital asset trading.
