Dogecoin Price at Risk as Key Indicator Turns Bearish, What’s Next?

Key Insights:

  • Dogecoin’s MVRV ratio falls below the 30-day SMA, signaling overvaluation.
  • MACD indicator trends below the signal line, indicating a potential price decline
  • Dogecoin price drops 7.31% in one day, market cap falls to $44.51B amid sell-off.

Dogecoin price remains vulnerable to a decline as supported by various market statistics. Market Valuation to Realized Valuation (MVRV) ratio statistics are below the 30-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) level. As an early indicator of the financial condition of a cryptocurrency, the metric serves as a warning sign that flags price levels at and above historical highs.

Understanding the MVRV and SMA Metrics

Notably, the MVRV ratio, employed by investors as an indicator of other holders’ profit or loss is currently located under the 30-Day SMA. This suggests that Dogecoin price could be overvalued relative to its realizable market potential. This might lead to a price correction.

Historically such a movement has been followed by price declines because it shows that the price is above the cost of realization of holders with a long-term perspective.

In parallel, the Simple Moving Average is a common indicator used to smooth out price data by creating a constantly updated average price.

The breach of the MVRV ratio below the SMA is significant because it has not occurred just once. Instead, it has persisted for over a month, indicating that the cryptocurrency has been overvalued.

MACD Indicates Further Downside

The MACD, an important technical analysis indicator, also reveals a bearish outlook for Dogecoin price. The MACD line is below the signal line, implying a bearish market trend as per the indicated signal.

This indicator is useful because it helps identify a significant shift in polarity from a bullish to a bearish condition. This suggests that the price of Dogecoin is likely to decline.

Additionally, the increasing trading volume, which typically accompanies large price movements, is aligned with this trend.

A situation where the trading volume is high while prices are low may trigger selling pressure, thus driving the price further down.

Dogecoin Price Movements and Market Reaction

In further support of the bearish sentiment, Dogecoin price has significantly decreased by 7.31% in just one day.

Its market capitalization has plummeted to $44.51 Billion, a substantial decline from its previously high valuations. This is in line with other fundamental analyses and correlates with the bearish signals given by the MVRV and MACD.

Hence, the decrease in price and market cap points to investor caution, possibly triggered by the bearish indicators.

As the market processes these signals, the immediate future of the Dogecoin price remains uncertain.

However, recent analysis reveals significant transactions by Dogecoin whales, suggesting a potential reversal.

In addition, Grayscale’s launch of a Dogecoin Trust and proposed ETFs by Bitwise could boost DOGE’s legitimacy and market presence, potentially steering the cryptocurrency towards the  $1 milestone.
