Key Insights:
- Two whales dumped 24,936 AAVE worth $5.5M, triggering a 20% price drop
- AAVE shows bearish technicals, with key resistance at $240–$250 and weak momentum indicators
- Despite volatility, Aave generated $1.91M in daily fees and leads DeFi lending with $16.5B in active loans
One of the most popular DeFi lending tokens, AAVE, is again under pressure, as large holders sold their positions in a rapid market decline. The token lost over 20% in the last 7 days, with its price declining to almost $210 as traders responded to massive on-chain transfers.
Whale Activity Triggers Panic as AAVE Price Drops
Within the last seven days, AAVE has declined by more than 20%, and it is currently trading at around 224.78 dollars. Nevertheless, its market cap increased by 5.06% or about 3.52 billion.
The recent volatility was preceded by a big sell-off by two whales that sold a total of 24,936 AAVE, totaling about $5.51 million.

According to on-chain data, whale address 0x1f4A transferred around 15,646 AAVE (approximately $3.45 million) to Binance, which is an indication of probable liquidation. Shortly afterward, wallet 0x8d8B sold 9,290 AAVE at 2.05 million USDC.
Technical Indicators Show Fragility Despite Temporary Bounces
Based on price action in the daily chart, there is a solid bearish trend in the last week as long red candles formed, and the closes have been weak.

The technical structure now indicates a possible double-bottom formation near the $220 support level, with the next resistance at $270.
However, the momentum indicators demonstrate a bearish attitude on various time scales. Bollinger Bands on the 4-hour time frame reveal that AAVE is hugging the lower band, which means that it is oversold.
Also, MACD is still negative, and Stochastic RSI is not able to recover adequately, which means the absence of momentum.

Despite the potential of a short-term bounce, a powerful breakout above the zone of $240-250 will be necessary to provide technical confirmation. In the meantime, there seems to be a cautious attitude among traders as they await a healthier trend reversal with a volume and improved sentiment.
Protocol Metrics Stay Strong as DeFi TVL Hits New High
Although the price is in a negative trend, the fundamentals of the Aave protocol are also strong, with good usage and generation of revenue.
Within 24 hours, the platform has received $1.91 million in fees and has made $277,315 in daily revenue. Aave has already accrued more than $1.35 billion in total fees, which shows its steady usefulness.

Additionally, in June 2025, DeFi lending also recorded a new high, as Total Value Locked (TVL) amounted to $54.2 billion. Aave holds more than 60% of the lending market with its active loans worth $16.5 billion. The competitors such as Morpho and Spark are expanding, but they are still second to the market share.
The increase in TVL highlights the rising demand by investors in yield-based products, more so during low-interest-rate periods. With conventional returns falling behind, a growing number of institutions and individuals are exploring DeFi platforms such as Aave to pursue on-chain yield. Despite the decrease in price, the use of protocol is strong.
It is also reflected in the increased activity of the developers and social interaction. The number of GitHub commits and Twitter mentions on Aave has increased dramatically, which demonstrates that people still have interest in the roadmap of the platform.

In addition, data from Whale Alert shows a transfer of 400 million USDT from HTX to Aave. The size and destination of the transaction raised questions about potential liquidity restructuring or internal capital reallocation.
