Samson Mow Claims Ethereum and Korean Retail Adoption ‘Won’t End Well’

Samson Mow recently revealed that Ethereum’s current strength depends on South Korean retail investors.

Based on this, he warned that their heavy buying could create problems for the market.

His comment comes as traders expect a price rally and MetaMask prepares to launch a reward token.

Samson Mow Questions Korean Support for Ethereum

Samson Mow, the CEO of JAN3, has claimed that Ethereum’s high price is being held up by Korean retail investors.

In a post on X, he stated that approximately $6 billion from these investors is tied up in Ethereum-related companies.

He described them as a seohak gaemie, which refers to Koreans who invest in foreign assets.

Mow said that many of these investors do not follow the ETH-to-BTC price chart and may not fully understand the risks.

He also claimed that Ethereum promoters have been visiting South Korea to attract local traders.

According to him, these investors believe they are backing the next big opportunity but might be buying at risky levels.

Mow said the situation “will not end well,” suggesting that Ethereum’s price could fall if retail demand fades.

His view has drawn attention from the crypto community, with some agreeing that retail buying often comes near the top of market cycles.

Others believe the growing interest from Korea could still help Ethereum in the short term.

Analysts see Ethereum Heading Toward $7,331

Not everyone shares Mow’s concern. Market analyst Mags believes Ethereum could soon rally further.

He said the coin broke above the $4,000 mark after spending more than three years trying to move higher.

According to Mags, this was Ethereum’s fourth attempt to cross that price level, and it finally succeeded in August.

After the breakout, Ethereum price dipped to $3,800 but quickly bounced back, forming what traders call a “V-shaped” recovery.

Mags said this is a strong signal that the next price move could be upward. As of the prediction, Ethereum was trading at $4,561.81.

Based on his chart analysis, the next possible target is $7,331, which aligns with the 1.618 Fibonacci extension level commonly used by traders to predict price targets.

Supporters of this view argue that Ethereum’s robust technical setup and recent recovery above $4,000 could attract more buyers into the market.

However, Mow’s comments have reminded traders that sentiment can shift quickly, especially when retail money dominates trading activity.

MetaMask Token Aims to Boost Ethereum Activity

In another development, Joseph Lubin, the co-founder of Ethereum and head of ConsenSys, confirmed plans for a MetaMask rewards program.

He said on X that the idea was not just a leak but part of a real project still being built.

Lubin explained that MetaMask plans to reward users for their activity on the wallet app.

In its first phase, called “Season 1,” the company will distribute over $30 million in various rewards, including $LINEA tokens.

He said this is part of a larger plan to create a token-based system that connects users, developers, and the wider Ethereum network.

The program will also include a MetaMask token, which will be launched later. Lubin said long-time users will benefit first, but new users will also have the chance to earn rewards.

He added that ConsenSys is expanding its projects, such as Linea and Infura’s decentralized network, to support this goal.

Some analysts think the token could increase on-chain activity and strengthen Ethereum’s ecosystem.

Others warn that it could attract short-term traders looking for quick profits. Notably, as Ethereum’s growth continues, the debate between long-term development and retail speculation remains a central issue.
