CZ Backtracks on Peter Schiff Bitcoin BTC Backlash, Calls Him Fun

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, known as CZ, has eased his tone toward economist Peter Schiff after the latter’s post comparing gold and Bitcoin BTC.

The exchange sparked fresh talk about changing views in the crypto space, market sentiment, and the current Fear and Greed Index reading.

CZ Softens His View on Peter Schiff

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao is taking a softer stance on Peter Schiff this week.

Peter Schiff, a long-time Bitcoin critic and gold advocate, recently posted on X comparing the value of gold and Bitcoin.

He argued that gold is more likely to reach $1 million than Bitcoin.

In response, a market watcher pointed out that gold at $1 million would imply a $6.75 quadrillion market cap, while Bitcoin at the same price would represent a $21 trillion market cap.

CZ responded, noting that Peter Schiff is entertaining and generally avoids personal attacks, unlike some other economists.

This brief response garnered attention because it displayed a more friendly tone from the Binance founder, who had previously dismissed Schiff’s views on Bitcoin.

The exchange drew interest across the crypto community. Many saw CZ’s comment as a small but clear shift in how top industry figures interact with well-known Bitcoin critics.

Schiff, who has often argued that Bitcoin has no real value compared to gold, has been one of the most persistent voices warning against digital assets.

Some observers believe CZ’s reply may indicate a shift in perception. Instead of treating Schiff as a strict opponent, many now see him as part of the ongoing market discussion.

The debate between gold supporters and Bitcoin believers continues, but the tone appears to be less hostile and more conversational than in the past.

Bitcoin BTC Talk Rises After Tom Lee’s Bold Forecast

Around the same time, Bitcoin sentiment gained attention after analyst Tom Lee predicted that Bitcoin could reach $1 million.

In a discussion about MicroStrategy, Lee stated that the company could become one of the largest in the United States due to its substantial Bitcoin holdings.

He explained that MicroStrategy’s value, including its debt, stands at around $115 billion.

If Bitcoin were to reach $2 million, he said the company could be worth about $2 trillion. He compared the company’s position in Bitcoin to how oil companies rely on oil.

Meanwhile, reports from ChainCatcher showed that MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin holdings had dropped by more than $10 billion in value over the past two weeks, falling to $68.37 billion.

Despite this decline, the company still holds 640,250 Bitcoins and maintains an unrealized profit of nearly $21 billion, with a 44.3% total return so far.

This mix of optimistic predictions and recent market losses highlights the uncertainty that remains in the crypto market.

Investors continue to react to both large forecasts and sharp price moves, making Bitcoin a frequent topic in financial discussions once again.

Fear and Greed Index Points to Market Caution

The CMC Crypto Fear and Greed Index from CoinMarketCap currently shows a reading of 25, signaling Fear.

The index, which ranges from 0 to 100, measures overall market mood based on factors like trading activity and volatility.

This week’s level marks a drop from last week’s 35 and last month’s neutral level of 51.

It suggests that investors are becoming more cautious even as public figures and analysts discuss higher future prices.

The yearly high for the index reached 88 in November 2024, showing “Extreme Greed,” while the lowest point was 15 in March 2025, reflecting “Extreme Fear.”

The current reading indicates that many traders remain hesitant to take large risks, despite growing discussions about Bitcoin’s long-term potential.

Essentially, the market remains cautious, balancing between excitement over future gains and concern about short-term drops.
