Satoshi Nakamoto’s associate, Adam Back, recently discussed the benefits and role of Bitcoin (BTC) Layer 2 solutions. His comments come alongside discussions about the price direction of BTC.
The leading cryptocurrency is still facing volatility, following the latest market crash. However, some market players think a breakout is looming.
What Adam Back Thinks About Bitcoin Layer-2 Chains
In an X post, Back highlighted some key points why he views Bitcoin layer-2 solutions as important in the crypto space.
First, he noted that Layer 2 solutions improve Bitcoin by addressing scalability and adding desirable features, although with trade-offs.
Back explained that Lightning Network, a Bitcoin Layer 2, allows faster, cheaper, and more private transactions.
He added that Fedimint, an open-source protocol for managing Bitcoin in a community setting, offers greater scalability and enhanced privacy. The protocol uses a community-based trust model to manage transactions, reducing reliance on the main chain.
Back also highlighted Liquid Network, another Layer 2 solution focused on confidentiality and auditability.
According to the cryptographer, Liquid is less scalable than Lightning or Fedimint, but provides confidentiality and auditability.

Back went on to reference Nakamoto’s design of Bitcoin’s scripting language, which allows for programmable transactions. He explained that Satoshi envisioned Bitcoin’s script enabling future innovations, including Layer 2 solutions.
Back suggested that early discussions on forums described some kind of lightning-like idea, indicating that Layer 2s align with the original Bitcoin vision.
The Satoshi ally emphasized the importance of enhancing the security of Layer 2 solutions. He believes stronger assurances make Layer 2 solutions more reliable, attracting a wider range of transaction types and use cases.
Summarily, Back views Layer 2 solutions as critical for scaling Bitcoin, improving privacy, and enabling new features while preserving the security and stability of its base layer.
Scottie Pippen Validates Bitcoin Rally
Away from discussions about Bitcoin Layer 2, NBA Champion Scottie Pippen shared an optimistic sentiment about the BTC price.
Pippen, who is also a vocal advocate for Bitcoin and crypto, believes the leading coin has more breakout potential.
He shared a BTC chart that appears like a custom graphic overlaid on a standard candlestick from Coinbase.
The chart spans roughly from around July 2024 to mid-2025, capturing the volatile journey of BTC through multiple cycles.
Key elements of the chart include the BTC price starting from around $30,000, with dips to lows around $20,000 to $25,000. The price then peaked above $100,000 in early 2025 before pulling back to approximately $90,000 by July.

The chart also features five local lows, marked with “it’s so over” labels. Each label is followed by an explosive rally, which Pippen expects will occur again in the current cycle.
From the chart analysis, Pippen is urging BTC investors to ignore the noise. He thinks recent dips are features, not the end of BTC.
Where is BTC Price Heading?
According to CoinMarketCap data, BTC is currently valued at $107,309, demonstrating a 1.4% increase over the past day.
Recall that BTC plunged as low as $103,790 on Friday, October 17, following over 19 billion market liquidations. Therefore, the recent spike to $107,000 is a huge improvement.
Analysts believe inflows into the spot BTC exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and dovish Fed signals would set a new floor for Bitcoin.
They see a potential path toward $150,000 as institutions reload BTC. Big banks and even the U.S. government have been loading at recent price lows. Their actions set the stage for the next explosive run.
Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego even predicted that Bitcoin could rise to $1.516 million.
