SpaceX stock traded near $137.95 as Elon Musk set aggressive targets for the company’s artificial intelligence business. Musk said SpaceX could approach Fable or GPT-6-level performance within two to three months. He also projected that SpaceX could reach AI “pole position” in roughly six months.
The forecast came as OpenAI and Anthropic released cheaper frontier models and prepared for separate public-market plans. SpaceX entered the AI race more directly after acquiring xAI in February 2026. Its shares now give investors exposure to launch services, Starlink and the recently integrated AI segment.
Elon Musk Sees SpaceX Reaching AI “Pole Position”
Musk said he was “cautiously optimistic” SpaceX could reach Fable or GPT-6-level performance within two to three months. He then placed a six-month timeline on reaching what he described as AI “pole position.”
His argument rests on SpaceX’s pace of development rather than its current standing against established AI labs. Musk said its AI work is three years old, compared with six years for Anthropic. He put OpenAI’s development period at about 10 years.
Musk also pointed to hardware as a key part of that race. Training and operating frontier models require large amounts of computing capacity and power. He argued that SpaceX’s experience scaling complex hardware could help it bring new compute online faster.
The prediction follows SpaceX’s move deeper into artificial intelligence after bringing xAI into the company. That combination links Grok model development with SpaceX’s existing engineering and infrastructure operations.
OpenAI and Anthropic Cut Model Costs Ahead of IPO Plans
Elon Musk’s forecast arrives days after OpenAI expanded the GPT-6 family with Sol and Luna. Both models bring parts of GPT-6 Astra’s capabilities to lower-cost workloads. OpenAI cut its API pricing by 50% compared with GPT-5.6 promotional rates.
Anthropic released Claude Opus 5.5 on the same day. The company said Opus 5.5 performs near Fable 5.1 on most work while costing 40% less than Opus 5.
The releases show that competition is increasingly moving toward efficiency alongside model capability. Lower inference costs matter as enterprises run AI systems across larger workloads and longer automated tasks.
The companies are also following different routes toward the stock market. Anthropic has shifted its planned IPO to November, according to The Wall Street Journal. The offering could raise to $100 billion and value Anthropic near $2 trillion.
Meanwhile, OpenAI is expected to pursue its own listing in 2027, and the company has also been discussing financing that could value it above $1.2 trillion.
SPCX Stock Prediction: Analysts Target $232 as Forecast Range Stays Wide
SPCX is trading near $148.03, while the average 12-month analyst target stands at $232.07. That places the consensus forecast about 56.8% above the current share price and makes $232 the main upside reference.
The most bullish forecast reaches $800, representing roughly 440% upside, while the lowest target sits at $75. That downside estimate is about 49% below the current price.

However, from the current level, the first important signal would be whether SPCX can stabilize after its recent decline. A sustained recovery would strengthen the path toward the $200-$232 area, where the consensus target becomes increasingly relevant.
