Key Highlights:
- Estimated leverage ratio (ELR) hits -0.25, nearing 2021 “China Ban” levels.
- Over 14,700 BTC sold at a loss, netting 11.6K BTC in short-term capitulation.
- Sentiment index drops below 40% as futures demand declines and volatility spikes.
Bitcoin is experiencing high levels of market pressure with leverage, sentiment, and short-term holder behaviour showing extreme risk aversion. The crypto market is responding to the rising global tensions and the crunch week of macroeconomic releases in the US.
Buyers are trying to protect major levels. However, on-chain metrics indicate growing pressure of liquidations, net losses, and declining speculative interest.
Accelerated Deleveraging and Short-Term Capitulation Shake Bitcoin Market
The 30-day change of BTC Estimated Leverage Ratio (ELR) has dropped to -0.25, the lowest since May 2021. At that time, China initiated talks of a Bitcoin mining ban.
This pushed ELR down to -0.32 over a month. By contrast, the recent decline was over three days, indicating a faster market-wide deleveraging.

The rate and intensity of this deleveraging indicate not only forced liquidations but a voluntary risk-off behavior by traders.
Derivatives traders have been squaring up to protect themselves against broader market volatility. With leverage still rolling off, the price structure of Bitcoin is looking weaker, and futures-based inflows provide less support.
Short-term Bitcoin holders have taken heavy losses in recent days. Their selling activity has intensified the bearish market sentiment.
Over 14,700 BTC were sold at a loss, and only 3,100 BTC were sold at a profit in the past 24 hours alone. The net change is 11,600 BTC, which indicates an increase in fatigue among new market participants.

These sell-offs typically occur during periods of capitulation. Traders often exit positions in panic or are forced out by stop-loss triggers.
Stop-losses were activated, and margin calls escalated as prices broke the $100,000 support level, further contributing to losses. This has now become a major contributor to intraday volatility and market instability.
Market Sentiment Deteriorates Amid Global and Economic Risks
The Advanced Sentiment Index has also sharply turned, dipping into the high bear sentiment region. However, the index is still in the neutral zone. The index dropped to 20% and settled at 37.4%, showing that traders remain anxious.

Macroeconomic and geopolitical triggers have escalated the sentiment breakdown. On the weekend, the U.S. followed suit with Israel in carrying out airstrikes on Iranian nuclear installations. This caused concerns that the conflict was escalating.
Such geopolitical tension is overlaid on a significant week of U.S. economic data. The Consumer Confidence Index released on Tuesday will influence how investors view the economy. Friday’s PCE inflation data could shape expectations for future monetary policy decisions.
Fed Chair Jerome Powell will testify on Tuesday and Wednesday. This could influence the market further based on his tone.
Derivatives Demand Weakens as Futures Activity Shrinks
The data on derivatives markets also indicates a notable shift in traders’ behavior, particularly in futures contracts. The Net Taker Volume indicator tracks buying and selling pressure in derivative markets. Recently, it has shown intense negativity, signaling dominant selling activity.
This implies the sell-side pressure is prevailing. Also, the bulls are not coming in forcefully even after the correction in the price.

Net Taker Volume was green at the beginning of May. However, it started to drop sharply in June and has remained red. Such long-term weakness suggests that most purchase activity is reactive and/or passive, instead of strategic or trend-based.
Consequently, there is a reduced probability of an aggressive upward correction without a long-side conviction increase.

Meanwhile, the charts indicate that Bitcoin has wiped out the $100,300 liquidity pocket. This caused a slight recovery. However, technical analysts observe that the follow-through volume is not there. This suggests that few people are confident about the rally.
