Bitcoin closes a key CME gap after moving back above $112,000 in September. The price now trades near $116,000. Also, holding above this level could set up a stronger rally in the year’s final quarter.
Bitcoin Crypto Price Holds Key Level After Sharp Recovery
Bitcoin price began September near $107,000 after testing that support several times. Buyers defended the level, and the price quickly climbed past $110,000.
On September 5 and 9, the Bitcoin price tested $113,000 but faced rejection. The barrier broke later in the month, and momentum carried the price to $116,700. The chart trader Daan Crypto Trades shared shows $112,000 as the level to watch.

He explained that Bitcoin is bullish above this point because the price has retaken a trading range. If this level holds, the market could push toward a range near $124,000.
Below $112,000, the trend may weaken. Daan noted that a move under this point would create lower highs and lows. Notably, that pattern would end the recent structure where Bitcoin regained the range and kept trending higher.
For now, the market continues to trade within the range, with $112,000 as support and $124,000 as resistance. Another view comes from analyst Michaël van de Poppe. He pointed to the performance of altcoins such as Optimism (OP) against Bitcoin.

After 20 months of declines, OP may soon break its 20-week moving average. He believes a breakout could open the door for 100% to 200% gains.
Basically, this adds to the outlook that market conditions may support stronger moves in the months ahead.
Bitcoin Crypto Price CME Gap Closure Draws Market Attention
A key development in September was the closure of a Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) futures gap. Again, gaps appear when Bitcoin trades differently between the spot market and CME futures.
Many traders expect these gaps to close, so the move has drawn attention. Closing the gap is a step that balances the market and reduces downside risk. At the same time, Bitcoin’s market share, often called dominance, has risen.
Data shows BTC dominance climbing to around 55.4% as capital shifted back into Bitcoin this month. This trend highlights how traders may prefer Bitcoin over altcoins during uncertain periods.
If dominance continues to rise, it could keep pressure on smaller tokens while Bitcoin holds its ground.
Focus Shifts to Fourth Quarter Performance
With September running out fast, traders now look to the last quarter of the year. The central question is whether Bitcoin can keep trading above $112,000 and build toward the range high.
If that happens, the market could follow a pattern seen in past cycles, where regaining the range led to further growth. The outlook also depends on factors outside the market. Global economic conditions and geopolitical risks remain in view.
Tensions involving major economies such as the United States, Russia, and China are part of the backdrop. More significantly, such developments can influence risk appetite and add volatility in the weeks ahead.
Still, the technical picture shows progress. Bitcoin closed the CME gap, defended important support, and reached new local highs. The price now trades just under $116,000, holding above the key level that analysts are watching.
The weeks ahead will show if Bitcoin crypto can keep this structure and move toward $124,000. Others predicted a price increase of $140,000.
If it does, the fourth quarter could bring a stronger rally. If not, the focus will return to whether $112,000 can hold and prevent another downward shift.
